LEKKI FREE TRADE ZONE IS CRUCIAL TO DEVELOPMENT IN LAGOS STATE.

Special Adviser on transportation to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Hon. Sola Giwa, speaking at the joint Traffic Management Stakeholders Meeting held on Tuesday 5th November, 2024 inside the New Eleko Market between Lekki Local Council Development Area and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government in Partnership with Lagos State Government, Ministry of Transportation. He noted that inflow of trailers, trucks and other vehicles both within the lekki- Epe axis, ibeju-Lekki route and neighbouring states is a result of the fast increasing business hubs emerging at a fast rate which has led to build up of traffic gridlock within the axis. Speaking further at event, he noted that the lekki axis comprises of five Free Trade zones, which are international companies, hence the need to introduce Electronic Call-up System, (E Call-up), to monitor and maintain orderliness within the operators and movement of trailers and trucks owners, operating along the axis. He went on to state that, trailers and trucks without the E Call-up Tag will be deny access to its destination, in addition, such trailers or trucks will be sanction in line with the stipulated fees. Still addressing the gathering, Honourable Sola Giwa, implored residents and stakeholders to give maximum cooperation to the government, to ensure the sucess of the E Call-up initiative. Speaking further, he noted that garage operation at Eleko junction must give way due to the danger the location posed to commercial activities carried out within the location. He stressed that Lagoon Highway has been signed into Operation by Lagos State Government, likewise the Blue Rail Line, to serve as alternative means of transportation aside the conventional road means of transportation. Lastly, he stressed that the E call up initiative is an application and system programmed to sequence trailers and trucks to ibeju-lekki axis and route, noting that trailers operators without the E call-Up tag will be deny access to their assigned destinations. Managing Director of the E call-up company, Mr. Timi Koleolu while addressing gathering at the event noted that the company only operationalized Lagos State Transport Management Policy via the introduction of E Call-up system to monitor and check mate the excess of trucks and trailers operators within the axis. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Mayor, ibeju-lekki Local Government, while speaking at the gathering, stressed the need for Stakeholders embrace the E call-up initiative, introduced by Lagos State Government , hence the need for compliance to the new method of operation by operators of trucks and trailers respectively. Bamidele Kasali via its welcome address implored stakeholders at the meeting to see the initiative as means to advance the operation of traffic management within the Lekki-Epe axis and ibeju-Lekki enroute. flagged off the Eko Social Health Alliance Scheme (EKOSHA) for 1,000 residents

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa is offering a rare opportunity to residents. Recently, he flagged off the Eko Social Health Alliance Scheme (EKOSHA) for 1,000 residents, providing free enrollment and access to quality healthcare services. This initiative is part of his administration’s efforts to ensure basic quality healthcare services to the people, especially at the grassroots level. The scheme includes treatment of eye problems with free eyeglasses, dental appointments, free Caesarian Section, tuberculosis treatment, malaria, and typhoid fever, among others ¹. The key benefits of EKOSHA includes, free enrollment for 1,000 residents, quality Healthcare Services fully paid for, comprehensive coverage, eye treatment, dental care more and access to registered Community pharmacies for free medication.

Representation and Facilitation of Meeting With Vaval Furniture Company Limited

The Supervisor for Education, Hon. Ogungbo Temitope Sofwan on Tuesday 29th October, 2024 had the privilege of representing the Executive Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government in a meeting with Vaval Furniture Company Limited. The meeting, held with the Managing Director of the company, Ambassador Micheal Tawadrous, ably accompany by the Director HR & Admin, Barrister Yetunde Hemba (Esq), focused on the comprehensive renovation of Bogije Primary School. The project will involve a total overhaul of the school’s infrastructure, including renovation of classrooms and construction of modern fencing, ultimately transforming the school into a modern facility. Vaval Furniture Company Limited has committed to commencing the total renovation, aiming to equip the school with modern facilities. In Conclusion, the director assured the representative of the Mayor of his plan to transform Bojije Primary School to a standard of intertionational status, noting that renovation work will commence at any moment, once the cost implication has been finalized Present at the meeting are, Supervisor for Education, Hon. OLOWA ADVOCATES RESILIENCE AS REMEDY TO SURVIVE ECONOMY WOES.

The need to embrace resilience strategy is pertinent to survive the current State of Economy by members of Staff, Political office holders and others. The aforementioned statement were the advise of the Mayor of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government at the Lagos State Resilience Strategy Meeting held on Wednesday 30th October, 2024 at the Council Secretariat Hall, Igando-Oloja. The Presentation which was held by Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO), headed by the Chief Resilience Officer, in Lagos State, Doctor. Mrs. Olayinka Daniel. Addressing participant during the Presentation, Mr Oluwole O. Micheal, the team leader of the mentioned office, gave the historical background of how the Resilience office emerge as office under Lagos State Government and how it was inaugurated in Lagos state in 2019 with staff deployed from different Ministries under Lagos State Government. He emphasized on the need to adopt Resilience Strategy as means and ability of an individual, Communities, Organisation, and groups to navigates and Scale through an unpleasant, harsh and highly inflated economy our nation is presently undergoing. Speaking further, he cited examples of challenges commonly experienced in Lagos State, such as Building Collapse, Flooding, Erosion, Road Accidents, Road traffic, Stress, Erratic Power Supply, Overcrowding, Inadequate Social Services just to mention few. He noted the three stages of Resilience as, Preliminary Resilience Assessment, first Stage , Resilience Strategy, second stage and Implementation of Lagos Resilience Strategy as third stage.. He proceeded by highlighting the Four Dimension of City Resilience Framework as Health and Wellbeing, Economy and Society, Infrastructure and Environment, Leadership and Strategy. Lastly, he concluded that the Lagos State office of Resilience continually intensify its efforts via research to proffer applicable solutions to mitigate against the unpleasant economy hardship presently ravaging our country, Nigeria. IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT HOST GOVERNOR”S ADVISORY COUNCIL.

Joint efforts and collaboration between Executive Chairmen of respective Local Government and Local Council Area along Ibeju-Lekki Communities is imperative to collectively address and tackle numerous challenges currently experience within the Ibeju-Lekki expressway and Communities. These were the Submission of the Chairman, Governor”s Advisory Council, (GAC) Committee, Senator Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro at the Inspection and Assessment Exercise on Tuesday 22nd October, 2024 held at the ibeju lekki Secretariat, igando oloja. Speaking at the event, the Senator Obanikoro noted that, he is convinced with the exceptional performance of the mayor which no doubt has impact lives greatly within ibeju lekki communities and residents. Comrade Mohammed Jamiu Youth Right Activist while expressing his views at the gathering noted that ibeju lekki community has experienced great transformation since the inception of the pragmatic Mayor. He however enjoined the Mayor to include the Widows and Elderly Citizens in his welfare initiatives. The Community Development Association Chairman, Comr. Jabita Adeboye, while addressing the gathering expressed profound appreciation to the Mayor for his efforts in making Ibeju-Lekki communities habitable for residents and stakeholders. He further appealed to the Lagos State Government to join hands with the Mayor to bring infrastructural development to communities within Ibeju-lekki axis. His Royal Majesty, Oba Lukman Olayemi Arowolo, the Gbadewolu of Araromi Kingdom, speaking at the event, appreciates the impact of the Mayor. He implored the Governor”s Advisory Council, (GAC) Committee”s Chairman to review land related matters with regards to excision and land tittles within Ibeju-Lekki. He further enjoined, the Committee to regulate by coordinating the activities of trucks owners and drivers within the lekki epe expressway to avert the repetition of what is currently happening at Apapa wharf axis, due to congestion of the roads by trucks and trailers. He concluded that, the Government should curtail the excess of security personnel, as most are in the habits of abusing powers entrusted to them under the law. HOUSE COMMITTEE ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION, CHIEFTAINCY AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT PAID WORKING VISIT TO IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT

As part of its annual statutory duty, the House Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy and Rural Development paid a working Visit to Ibeju-Lekki Local Government at the Secretariat igando oloja. The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Sanni Okanlawon while speaking at the gathering expressed appreciation to the Mayor for thinking outside the box via the laudable initiative and innovation of the Keke Jaja Garbage Collection Tricycle, which is the first of its kind coming from the helmsman. He went further, to commend the Mayor for building a befitting edifice as administrative and Legislative building. He stated that the Mayor has impacted lives going by his tract records and Performance Reports. The Committee Chairman concluded by calling the helmsman as “ALL ROUNDER” noting that, he has touched every facet of lives such as Education, Tourism, Infrastructural development, Environmental Sustainability, Economy Empowerment and others. He stated that the helmsman has brought Civility into Ibeju-Lekki by engaging in something that is extra ordinary in governance. He further advised the Council Mayor, to intensify efforts in tourism by galvanizing other major players to partner with ibeju-lekki Local Government to project ibeju-Lekki cultural heritage to the global world and those in diaspora by packaging and showcasing it to the world, nothing that it has the capacity to grow in the area of tourism. He cited the Osun Osogbo festival in Osun state and the Ojude Oba in ijebu ode, at Ogun State, which attracts tourist from all over the world annually thereby generating huge resources as revenue into the covers of the government. Speaking further as regards sport, he enjoined the helmsman to give priority to the area by encouraging sporting activities by investing in sports generally. He stated that great talents and potentials are lucked up in some youths and such talents can only be uncover via the sporting activities. He cited, Sporting Ambassadors like Lionel Messi and Ronaldo whom have excel tremendously in sport. He concluded that, the mayor has enacted iconic projects which serves as evidence of being prudence in financial management and testament of good governance. Lastly, he implored all Royal fathers, Apex Leaders, Party loyalist and others to continue to support the aspirations of the helmsman to advance ibeju-lekki to a greater heights. The helmsman while presenting his Stewardship account, hinted on the Four point agenda as stated at the inception of the administration, as Infrastructural development, Environmental Sustainability and Health, Economy Empowerment and Education and Security. IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT FIRST QUARTER STAFF FORUM: OLOWA PRIORITIZED STAFF WELFARISM ABOVE ALL.

Members of Staff, Management team of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government will for a long time remember today as the Council Mayor, Hon. Engr Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, assured them of better working Conditions. Speaking at the Nulge Union Branch of Ibeju-Lekki Staff Forum, the Council helmsman highlighted all initiatives embarked on to enhance efficiency and productivity at work by his administration since inception. He noted that conducive work environment is require amongst other things to motivates members of staff to discharge their duties appropriately. He however emphasized the need by staff to be punctual, dedicated and committed to their respective work.             The State President of the union, Comrade Sewanu Sunday Ogunfowora while addressing the gathering, appreciates the Mayor for all his laudable initiatives towards the staff and implored members of Staff to reciprocates via their positive approach and conducts to work. PURPOSEFUL REPRESENTATIVE, FOUNDATION FOR INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN IBEJU-LEKKI AND ITS ENVIRONS.

The laudable initiatives of this administration are visible to all, and serves as evidence of our commitments to infrastructural development and commitment to humanitarian services. These are the words of the energetic Mayor of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government at the 9th Annual Constituency Stakeholders Meeting held at Jata hotel, lagos. Addressing participants at the gathering, the helmsman emphasized the need to bring advance development to ibeju-Lekki Communities and its environment via the office of representative of the constituency. The Host, Chief Whip of Lagos State House of Assembly, ibeju-Lekki Constituency1, Hon. Mojeed Fatai Adebola While speaking at the event, noted that his office as representative placed a strong emphasis on infrastructural development, which is the backbone of economic growth and social well-being, stressing further that a well connected community is a prosperous one. Speaking further, he highlighted the Major construction work at Alabede/ Baale Kota road at Bogije which was facilitated by his office and at the verge of completion with the installation of solar streetlights. He also hinted on the facilitation of the construction of Kajola to Bogije and Awoyaya to Eputu roads, noting that significant progress has been made on both roads as these roads can serves as alternatives route to ease off possible traffic on the main Lekki Epe Expressway. He however, attributed the slow pace of the road construction to constraint of funds and inflation of materials. He noted the purchased of 400 Free Jamb forms, awards of MFA bursary initiatives and provision of tutorial classes are part of measures taken to support students residents within the Constituency. Looking ahead, he acknowledged that more works still needs to be done to alleviates challenges faced within ibeju-Lekki Communities. IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT SENSITIZES MARKET TRADERS ON SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT.

Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, under the leadership of Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Executive Chairman, organized a sensitization workshop for market traders on proper waste disposal and management. Hon. Engr, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa in his address emphasized the need to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse on our expressways and community roads. He insisted that, Ibeju-Lekki is not a dumping ground for refuse. Refuse dumping destroys road beauty and poses health risks. He also directed all market management to procure big waste bins for collection or contact Keke JaJa for collection and transportation to landfill . Illegal refuse collectors ( Cat Pushers ) will be arrested and prosecuted from next week. Also , the Council Manager Mr Otinwa Oladipupo Urged market traders to support the government’s initiatives on waste management while the CTA on Environment, Hon. IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT INCREASES SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR STUDENTS IN UNITY SCHOOLS

The Ibeju Lekki Local Government, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon.( Engr) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has increased the previous One Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira Scholarship fund to Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand naira to students in unity schools. This move is in a bid to reflect the current tuition fees and to strengthen the educational pursuit of students in the local government. Beneficiaries of this Scholarship Award comprises of Students from Federal Unity Model Colleges in Ibeju- Lekki Local Government. LAGOS STATE LOTTERY AND GAMING AUTHORITY HANDS OVER PRIMARY HEALTH CARE CENTRE TO IBEJU- LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

In the early hours of today, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdulahi Sesan Olowa, on behalf of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, officially received the handing over of a Modern Primary Health Care Center at Adesalu from the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority on behalf of Lagos State Government . The health facility was built by the Authority for residents of Adesalu , Onosa and other nearby communities in Ibeju-Lekki to gain easy access to adequate healthcare. Speaking at the event the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority Mr. Bashir Abiola Are, implored individuals, Corporate Organisations and groups to support the Government by contributing to the development of communities via such initiatives and project. He stressed that the development of the community is a collective effort as Government alone can not be left to tackle such responsibility. In his acceptance address, the Mayor, Hon.
