The Joint Task Force of the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government for Immunization headed by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa held its strategic meeting which is geared towards curbing the spread of diseases with the aim of ridding the Council Area of maladies The meeting which had various stakeholders involving the team of task force, education and religious stakeholders, also had the women folk represented.
Welcoming the stakeholders, Hon. Olowa affirmed that immunization is critical for Primary Health Care as other diseases need to be tackled not just the poliomyelitis. Going down memory lane, the Council boss talked about his administration’s efforts in the last four years to ensure proper repositioning of all the PHCs in the Local Government. He assured that his government will continue to take health as a priority as citizens should be able to access the hospitals for immediate health care. “Let us reduce the rate of diseases in our Local Government, so we can rank among the best in the State and Nigeria as a whole” he said.
The Polio vaccination for children between the ages of 0 to 59 months will commence on the 3rd of May till 6th of May 2025, (with an extension of two days). To this end, citizens are advised to cooperate with health workers in order for their children/ward to be immunized against the dreaded polio disease.
Other dignitaries includes, the Supervisor for Health, Alhaji Tajudeen Sindiku Oniwonlu, the Medical Officer for Health, Dr. Taiwo Shosanya, The ES on Education, Alhaji Onibeju, The CAN Chairman, Rev. Joseph Mathew Ameh, the League of Alfa and Imams representative, Alhaji Adebanjo, Women Leader, Alhaja Mobi Raji amongst others.
