COMMUNITY DAY CELEBRATIONS: IBEJU-LEKKI LG. MAKE HISTORY AS ARAROMI CDA WINS BEST RURAL COMMUNITY AWARD

History was made on Thursday, 14th December, 2023 at the annual Year 2023 Lagos State Community Day Celebrations with the theme “Community Engagement: A Veritable Tool For Infrastructural Development in Rural Communities”. The annual event, where all Community Development Associations in the State are hosted and rewarded by the Executive Governor of Lagos State,His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs of the State. The occasion where Araromi Community Development Association (CDA) of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government won the Best Rural Community Award and a fourteen seaters bus was presented as prize gift. This achievement was possible because of the Social Responsibility and contribution of residents of Araromi towards the development of their Community to make it habitable. The rare feat can also be attributed to the encouragement and support of the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Administration under the leadership of her performing Mayor, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa. The Local Government under Hon. Olowa is seriously engaging and encouraging synergy between the CDC/CDAs in the Council Area for the general growth of the people. The Executive Chairman on behalf of his entire Cabinet Members Congratulated the award winning Araromi CDA Chairman,the Community Development Committee Chairman, Comr. Jabita Adebola, and of course the good people of the Council Area while challenging others to intensify efforts to complement Government’s efforts for future achievements.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

It has been observed that the Environmental condition of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government is daily deteriorating due to activities of unscrupulous elements who have turned the streets into dump sites by illegally dumping refuse by Roadsides,Bus Stops and other unauthorised places despite the efforts of Council’s Executive Chairman, Hon.(Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa and his Team to ensure and maintain a cleaner environment through various initiatives. This is to Inform our citizens that the Local Government has embarked on an Environmental Enforcement Exercise to curb this menace. The exercise which Started yesterday with the Demolition of illegal structures and shanties on the set backs of Onasa/Desa road by the Council’s Environmental Health Officers ably led by the Head of Department, SAN Mary Akinola with Security Agents will continue in other areas within the council . Consequently, residents are seriously warned to desist from the act of littering, dumping, defacing, construction of illegal shanties and any form of environmental nuisances in Ibeju-Lekki and its Environs. Be informed that Defaulters will be severely death with and prosecuted according to the stipulated Environmental Laws and Bye Laws of Lagos State Government and Ibeju Lekki Local Governments respectively. EHOAN HONOURS IBEJU-LEKKI HEAD OF ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES, (SAN) AKINOLA MARY OLUSOLAPE.

The Head of Environmental Services Department of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, (SAN) Akinola Mary Olusolape was recently honoured with an Exceptional Leadership Skills Award by the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN), Lagos State Chapter for her unwavering commitment, positive impact, outstanding and good performance in the discharge of her duties and for upholding the Environmental Profession. The Award which was presented at the Environmental Health Leadership Award ceremony held on Friday, 8th December 2023 at the NUT Pavillion, Ogba Lagos State was organised to recognise and celebrate excellent service delivery in the Environmental Health Profession. The Executive Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on behalf of the entire Workforce of the Local Government congratulates our (SAN) for this laudable achievement.

IBEJU-LEKKI LG. CONDUCTS NULGE ELECTION AS COMRADE LAWAL EMERGES BRANCH CHAIRMAN

The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Branch Nigerian Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) on Tuesday, 5th December 2023 conducted the election that will usher in new Executives of the Branch after the expired tenure of the outgoing NULGE Chairman, Comrade Talemu Ahmed. The outgoing Chairman, however seized the avenue to enumerate some of the achievements of his tenure in office which include robust and increase welfare package for Staff from #120,000 to #1,500,000, Facilitating the provision of NULGE Bus, Staff festival period bonuses increased from 5,000 to #15,000, Mainteinance and Daily fuelling of Staff Bus and many more Staff interventions. Comr. Talemu attributed his tenure’s success to the support, cooperation and magnanimity of the Council’s Executive Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa since he assumed office as he also applauded the Political Office Holders, the Council Manager, Management Members and the entire Ibeju-Lekki Local Government workforce for their unflinching support thus far. The process which was supervised by the State NULGE Executive Representatives like Comr. Sobowale Otutuloro, Comr. Shetima, and Comr. Olabimtan Seyi and others who were presented with seventeen candidates vying for various elective positions in the Ibeju-Lekki NULGE Branch transition. In the keenly contested election, Comrade Liafis Lawal eventually emerged as the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government NULGE Branch Chairman, Comrade Badmus as the Vice Chairman, Comrade Odupe came out as the chapter’s General Secretary, Comrade Timothy-Folajimi Yemisi as the Assistant General Secretary, Comrade Arogundade emerged as the Treasurer Comrade Balogun Bashir as the Auditor, Comrade Alaka Balkis as the Woman Leader, Comrade James as the Branch Trustee while Comrade Hassan Kehinde emerged as the Branch Young Person. The positions of Departmental Representatives was also contested for and the following Officers emerged as the Representatives of their various Departments. Comrade Oshinaike Fatimoh emerged as the Health Department Representative, Comrade Dare as the Representative of the Works and Infrastructure Department, Comrade Rasaq Kabir Alani as the Finance Department Representative, Comrade Ojikutu Nasir as the Education Department. Representative, Comrade Makinde Folashade for the Agriculture and Social Services Department, Comrade Ogunneye Adekunle as the Environmental Services Department Representative, Comrade Omolola Adeleke for the Budget, Planning and Statistics Department, Comrade Olawale also emerged as the Admin and Human Resource Department Representative respectively. The Election was simply a success with new Executive Members advised by NULGE Leaders and others present to work in synergy for the betterment of the the entire Staff of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government. Also present at the venue were Management Members, past NULGE Chairmen/Leaders and the entire Staff of the Council amongst others.
