OLOWA DELIVERS INSPIRING ADDRESS AT LAGOS BUSINESS SCHOOL INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVENT

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on Monday 9th March, 2026 was a special guest at the Lagos Business School (LBS) in commemoration of International Women's Day. The event, which held at the prestigious Honeywell Auditorium, was themed "Raising Women, Raising Communities: The Give to Gain Mandate." Accompanied by the Supervisor for Education, Mr. Sodiq Agbaje, and the Supervisor for Environment, Mr. Ogungbo Temitope Sofwan, Hon. Olowa addressed a distinguished audience of participants, emphasizing the critical role of women in community development and sustainable progress. In his remarks, Hon. Olowa expressed profound gratitude to the organizers for the impactful event, noting that he had gained valuable insights throughout the proceedings. He highlighted key achievements of his administration in advancing women empowerment, including a strategic partnership with Pan Atlantic University. This collaboration has produced over 500 tutorial beneficiaries, with more than 250 securing admission into institutions of higher learning. The Council Boss underscored the unique value of the female gender, describing women as a powerful force that multiplies every investment made in them: "Women give multiple of what you invest in , they are the true architects of thriving communities." He reaffirmed his administration's unwavering dedication to inclusive governance, education, and empowerment programs that uplift women and, by extension, strengthen Ibeju-Lekki and Lagos State as a whole. A highlight of the program was the lecture delivered by Mrs. Abolaji Osime, CEO of Global International Secondary and College. She eloquently described women as "architects" who do not merely occupy space but define and shape the cultural and structural ecosystem that sustains communities and keeps them vibrant. In her words, “If you invest $1 in the female gender, expect a $2.8 return on investment”. The event featured an engaging Question and Answer session, during which Hon. Olowa fielded inquiries from participants on critical topics such as participatory governance, community support initiatives, and strategies for grassroots development. Closing the program, Dr. Nsima Aladi delivered the vote of thanks. She issued a stirring challenge to all attendees: to return to their respective spheres and commit to uplifting at least one person, thereby making tangible improvements in lives and communities. International Women's Day is observed globally each year to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women while advocating for gender equality and empowerment.
