The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, on Tuesday 30th June, 2026 attended the official launch of the _Adopt-a-School: Snacks for Thought - PBAT FEEDS_ initiative, a public-private partnership by the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government aimed at providing nutritious breakfast meals for primary school pupils to improve school attendance, concentration and academic performance.
The programme, held at Lagos Island East LCDA under the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, brought together government officials, local government chairmen, development partners, corporate organisations and other stakeholders committed to improving child welfare and strengthening basic education across the country.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the Governor of Lagos State, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin reaffirmed the State Government's commitment to working with the Federal Government, private organisations, development partners and well-meaning Nigerians to improve the wellbeing of schoolchildren through sustainable partnerships.
The National Programme Manager of the Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, Princess Aderemi Adebowale said the initiative is designed to provide nutritious breakfast snacks and beverages to pupils before classes begin, helping to improve concentration, school attendance and learning outcomes while encouraging private sector participation through an adopt-a-school model.
The Executive Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, Muibi Folawiyo, commended the Federal and Lagos State Governments for the initiative and called on corporate organisations, faith-based organisations and other stakeholders to adopt schools within their communities as part of their corporate social responsibility.
The event featured the distribution of breakfast packs alongside school bags, tablets, snack boxes, water bottles, flasks, notebooks and other educational materials to pupils, underscoring the collective commitment of government and its partners to improving child nutrition and enhancing learning outcomes in public primary schools.
