The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, on Wednesday, 29th July 2026, attended the July Monthly General Meeting of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ibeju-Lekki Branch, held at the Council Secretariat, Igando Oloja.
The meeting brought together members of the engineering profession to discuss professional development, the growth of the branch and the role of engineering in driving sustainable development in Ibeju-Lekki.
A major highlight was the presentation of the Lagasa Water Project under the Lagasa Clean Water Vision, an initiative of Hon. Olowa aimed at developing a sustainable water supply system for residents. The Chairman commended the NSE Water Project Committee for what he described as a fantastic job, noting that the vision is to create a scalable and metered system capable of taking clean water directly to households while addressing present and future needs.
Hon. Olowa congratulated the NSE Ibeju-Lekki Branch for its remarkable progress, noting that despite being less than a year old, it has continued to record impactful engagements. He said his support for the branch was inspired by his belief in the future of Ibeju-Lekki and his readiness to embrace initiatives that promote development.
The Chairman also sought the support of engineers in creating awareness among their organisations about the Career Accelerator Programme (CAP), a Local Government initiative designed to equip young people with industry-relevant skills and prepare them for employment opportunities. He encouraged companies within Ibeju-Lekki's industrial corridor, including the Lekki Deep Sea Port, Lekki Free Trade Zone, Dangote Refinery and other businesses, to recognise the pool of skilled talents being developed through the programme.
A technical presentation titled _"Unlocking the Mutual Benefits and Obligations of NSE Membership Through Enduring Branch Growth,"_ was delivered by former NSE President, Engr. Ademola Isaac Olorunfemi, while the NSE Ibeju-Lekki Branch Chairman, Engr. Dare Olorunfemi, commended Hon. Olowa's leadership and interventions in addressing recent flooding and security challenges.
The meeting also featured the induction of new members, preparations for the 2026 Engineering Week, the forthcoming Annual General Meeting and luncheon, as well as the celebration of July-born members.
