The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, today Friday 24th July, 2026 received members of the Lagos State House of Assembly committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on an official oversight visit aimed at assessing governance, legislative collaboration, and developmental strides within the council.
The delegation was led by Hon. Ganiyu Sanni Okanlawon, which included Hon. Oladele Ajayi (Ibeju-Lekki 2), Hon. Samuel Apata, Hon Olusegun Adebisi (Ege) Hon. Surajudeen Tijani (Emir), Hon. Wale Yusuf, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, Hon. Adebola Rasheed (Shabi), Hon. Jubril Abdulkareem was warmly received by the Executive Chairman and members of the council's management team.
As part of the visit, Hon. Olowa first ushered the lawmakers to the Legislative Chamber, where they observed the council's legislative proceedings in session, a demonstration of the cordial working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of the local government.
The delegation thereafter proceeded to the Citrus Garden Estate, a landmark housing initiative facilitated by the administration of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, where the team was taken on an inspection tour of the development.
The visit culminated at the council's Conference Hall, where the Executive Chairman delivered a comprehensive presentation on his administration's SHIEELD Agenda, highlighting the milestones recorded across critical sectors. He also expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for creating an enabling environment that has empowered local government administrations to deliver meaningful development and impactful governance.
Presenting his scorecard, Hon. Olowa outlined achievements spanning Security, Health, Infrastructure, Environment, Education, Local Economy, and Digital Governance, emphasizing his administration's commitment to inclusive development and improved service delivery for the people of Ibeju-Lekki.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the leader of the team, Hon. Ganiyu Sanni Okanlawon, showered encomiums on the Executive Chairman for his exemplary leadership and remarkable developmental strides. He described Hon. Olowa as "a round peg in a round hole", noting that he is a leader who truly understands the demands of governance.
Hon. Okanlawon recalled his previous oversight visit to the council last year, during which he described Hon. Olowa as "Mr. All-Rounder," stating that the impressive pace of development has not only been sustained but significantly expanded. He encouraged the Chairman to remain steadfast in building on the legacies already established.
Other members of the oversight committee also commended the Executive Chairman for his visionary leadership, transparent administration, and the numerous impactful projects and programmes being implemented across the local government. They expressed satisfaction with the level of development witnessed and urged the council to sustain its people-oriented approach to governance.
The oversight visit further reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Lagos State House of Assembly and the local government system in promoting accountability, transparency, and sustainable grassroots development.
