In a proactive effort to support maternal and child health amid economic challenges, the Lagos State Government, through the Office of Civic Engagement, has distributed food palliatives to pregnant women in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area. The initiative, aimed at reducing malnutrition risks and promoting healthy pregnancies, was flagged off today at the Primary Health Care Center, Ibeju. The Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa who was a Special guest, was represented by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Maruf Issa Olayinka who stood in for the Chairman of Conference 57. In his speech, the Chief of Staff emphasized the administration's commitment to grassroots interventions, stating, "Under the visionary leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, we are bridging the gap between policy and people. These palliatives are not just food items; they are lifelines for our pregnant mothers, ensuring they and their unborn children thrive." The palliatives, comprising bags of rice, beans, eggs and nutritional supplements tailored for prenatal care, were distributed to verified beneficiaries identified through community health centers and local civic networks.
