LAGOS LG POLLS: HON. OLOWA MEETS WITH RESIDENTS OF DESTINY HOME ESTATE; ASSURES THEM OF INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE

As part of continued grassroots engagement ahead of the July 12 Local Government elections in Lagos State, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, met with residents and stakeholders of Destiny Home Estate Abijo, as he promised to deepen inclusive governance if re-elected. The meeting was also attended by key political stakeholders including the Director-General of the Campaign Organization, Hon. Babatunde Quadri Idogun; the APC Local Government Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Aliasau Eletu, Apex leader, Hon. Monsuru Oludaisi Kazeem and the APC Local GovernmentWoman Leader, Alhaja Mobi Raji. Addressing residents during the interactive session, Hon. Olowa expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised the estate community for its civic engagement. He said bridging the communication gap between the government and the people had been one of his administration’s top priorities since assuming office in 2021. “The transformation we are witnessing across Ibeju-Lekki today is the result of intentional leadership and community-driven planning,” Hon. Olowa stated. “This Council is rapidly developing, special thanks to a focussed and people centric governance which the APC has been able to give to its citizens at all levels., and I want to assure you that our policies and programes will continue to be geared towards more development". He urged residents to consider the upcoming election not merely as a routine political exercise, but as an opportunity to reinforce the voice of the community in securing more dividends of democracy. According to him, a high voter turnout would place Ibeju-Lekki in a stronger position when negotiating for greater development and state-level attention. Hon. Olowa also gave a brief account of his administration’s performance in the last three years and previewed his next-term development blueprint under the S.H.I.E.E.L.D agenda—an acronym representing plans to consolidate achievements in security, health, infrastructure, education, empowerment, leadership, and digital governance.6 Residents of Destiny Homes lauded the Council Chairman for what they described as visible progress under his leadership. According to one of the residents, Elder Kole in his words, “We are well aware of the work you have done, and we will continue to give you our support. Ibeju-Lekki is better today because of your leadership,” The Executive Chairman also used the moment to present his Vice Chairman who is also his running mate, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji and the Councillorship Candidate who will be representing Iwerekun I (Ward E), Ms. Zainab Ayobola Eletu. The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has scheduled the council elections for Saturday, July 12, with voting set to begin at 8:00 a.m. across polling units. Ibeju-Lekki, a fast-developing corridor of Lagos, is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the outcomes. Hon. Olowa’s campaign continues to focus on inclusive leadership, community development, and sustained growth for Ibeju-Lekki’s expanding population.
