Advancing the Environmental Sustainability pillar of the SHIEELD Agenda, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on 27th June, 2026 personally supervised the June edition of the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, leading coordinated efforts to improve environmental conditions across the Local Government.
The exercise witnessed the strategic deployment of the Local Government's sanitation fleet and heavy equipment to evacuate refuse from identified black spots, clear environmental nuisances and restore cleanliness to critical locations. Moving from one community to another, the Chairman assessed ongoing sanitation operations, issued on the spot directives to environmental personnel and supervised key cleanup activities, setting the tone for a more proactive and responsive approach to environmental management across the Local Government.
Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Olowa described environmental sanitation as a shared civic responsibility that extends beyond the monthly exercise, calling on residents, businesses and community stakeholders to adopt proper waste disposal practices, maintain clean surroundings and play their part in preserving the environment. He emphasized that a clean environment is fundamental to public health, economic growth and sustainable development, adding that his administration will continue to strengthen sanitation operations and implement practical environmental initiatives that enhance the quality of life across Ibeju-Lekki.
The June Environmental Sanitation Exercise reflects the administration's drive to build cleaner communities, protect public health and advance a more sustainable Ibeju-Lekki, where environmental responsibility remains a shared duty and a lasting culture.
