The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa hosted representatives of Genzaar, Africa Fintech Foundry (AFF), the German Development Cooperation Agency (GIZ) through its Centres for Migration and Development (ZME) Programme, and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to explore collaboration on the proposed Ibeju-Lekki Career Accelerator Programme. The initiative is aimed at preparing young people in the local government for emerging opportunities in a rapidly evolving economy through structured skills development, career support and entrepreneurship training.
The proposed programme is designed to equip participants with practical competencies in digital literacy, employability, financial education, communication and professional development. Through a combination of technology-enabled learning, mentorship, workshops and industry engagement, the Career Accelerator Programme seeks to bridge the gap between education, skills acquisition and access to meaningful economic opportunities within Nigeria and beyond.
Speaking during the engagement, Hon. Olowa emphasized the importance of investing in local talent as Ibeju-Lekki continues to grow into one of Nigeria's leading economic and industrial hubs. Participants also explored opportunities for partnership in workforce readiness, career counselling, entrepreneurship support and job placement pathways, marking an important step toward developing a sustainable framework for youth empowerment, employment and long-term economic growth across the local government.
