The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, in partnership with Pan-Atlantic University on the 29th June, 2026 commenced a two-day SME Capacity Building and Entrepreneurship Development Workshop aimed at equipping entrepreneurs, artisans and business owners with practical knowledge to build sustainable and competitive enterprises.
The workshop was declared open by the Dean of Pan-Atlantic University, Professor Sola Oni, who welcomed participants to the programme.
The first day featured presentations by seasoned academics and industry experts on key areas of business development. Sessions included Leveraging Family Members in SMEs and Sources of Funding and Working Capital Management by Professor Segun Vincent, The Relevance of Bookkeeping, Budgeting and Banking in SMEs by Dr. Fred Ikpesu, and Ethics and Morality in Business by Janet Imhanzenobe.
A major highlight of the workshop was the presentation by representatives of the Bank of Industry (BOI), who outlined funding opportunities available to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Participants were introduced to various financial products, including Working Capital Loans, Asset Finance Loans, Intervention Funds, Business Advisory Services, Matching Funds and credit facilities dedicated to women-owned businesses. The Bank also explored opportunities for partnership with the Local Government in youth empowerment, skills development and MSME financing.
The workshop provided participants with practical insights into financial management, business sustainability, ethical leadership and access to institutional funding, while creating opportunities for interaction with experts and industry stakeholders.
The initiative reflects the commitment of the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, to promoting entrepreneurship, strengthening local businesses and expanding economic opportunities for residents through strategic partnerships and capacity development.
