Ibeju-Lekki Local Government today Saturday 25th July, 2026 made a powerful statement for a cleaner and healthier Lagos as the July edition of the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise took place in Eputu Community, with the participation of the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; the wife of the deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Dr. Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab; members of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO); the Ologunfayo of Ogunfayo, Oba Idogun Adewunmi Larrys; and other dignitaries, government officials, traditional leaders and residents.
The distinguished guests joined the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, on the streets of Eputu Community, turning the exercise into a powerful demonstration of leadership by example and collective responsibility. Residents and stakeholders came together to clean streets, public spaces and drainage channels, reinforcing the importance of proper waste disposal and environmental responsibility in building safe, healthy and liveable communities.
Addressing participants, the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, emphasised the importance of collective action in maintaining a clean environment, urging residents to make cleanliness a daily responsibility and take ownership of their surroundings.
For the administration of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise goes beyond a routine activity. It forms part of the Local Government's sustained efforts to promote environmental consciousness, encourage responsible waste disposal and foster a culture in which residents, businesses, community leaders and other stakeholders actively take ownership of the cleanliness and wellbeing of their communities.
The administration commended the residents of Eputu Community, traditional and community leaders, environmental sanitation personnel, volunteers, teachers and students who participated in the exercise, as well as all stakeholders who contributed to its success. Residents are urged to sustain the spirit of the sanitation day by keeping their surroundings clean and disposing of waste responsibly.
