IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT JOINS STATEWIDE MONTHLY ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION EXERCISE

Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa today Saturday 25th April, 2026 actively participated in the statewide Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, reaffirming its commitment to promoting a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment. The sanitation exercise commenced along the Lekki-Epe Expressway of Desa/Onosa Town, where residents were sensitized on the importance of maintaining a clean environment and adopting proper waste disposal practices. The awareness campaign emphasized community responsibility in sustaining environmental hygiene. The team proceeded to Kara Market, where a significant amount of refuse was observed. Demonstrating exemplary leadership, the Executive Chairman personally joined in the cleanup efforts, working alongside sanitation officials and community members to restore cleanliness in the market. The exercise continued to Ibeju-Agbe community, where further inspections were carried out to assess environmental conditions and encourage residents to uphold sanitation standards. At Eleko Junction, traders were strongly advised to maintain cleanliness, particularly in the handling and display of food items and consumables, in order to safeguard public health. A major cleanup operation was also conducted at Iberekodo/Museyo Beach, where heaps of refuse were cleared by the Local Government team, significantly improving the environmental outlook of the area. The exercise witnessed active participation from key stakeholders, including the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC, formerly known as KAI), alongside Council Legislators, Supervisors, and the Management Team. Hon. Olowa who also doubles as the Conference 57 Chairman, reiterated the administration’s commitment to environmental sustainability and called on all residents of Ibeju-Lekki to take ownership of their surroundings by ensuring regular cleaning and proper waste disposal. The Local Government remains steadfast in its drive to create a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
