Ibeju-Lekki Local Government held a Sensitization Programme and the Inauguration of all Statutory Committees on the 12th February, 2026 at the Council Secretariat, as part of deliberate efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and the effective implementation of the public procurement process in local government administration. The programme which was formally declared open by the Executive Chairman, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who appreciated the presence of all participants and emphasized the importance of due process, transparency, and strict adherence to procurement guidelines. He urged all Heads of Departments to carefully study their budgets, ensure proper planning, and comply strictly with approved financial and procurement procedures. The Chairman further stressed the need for integrity, accountability, and effective in-house auditing as key measures to strengthen internal control mechanisms within the Local Government. The Council Manager Dr. Adekoya Adesanya, highlighted the importance of observing established protocols in procurement processes and maintaining discipline in financial management. He noted that strict compliance with budgetary provisions and procurement regulations remains critical to the delivery of quality services to the people of Ibeju-Lekki. Earlier, the Head of Procurement Miss.Issa R. Titilola, in her remarks, appreciated the presence of participants and described public procurement as a vital tool for good governance. She emphasized that value for money, fairness, transparency, efficiency, integrity, competition, and accountability remain the guiding principles of public procurement. The programme also featured a presentation by the Facilitator, Wasiu A. Onanuga who delivered an insightful lecture on the effective implementation of public procurement processes in local government administration. He explained that public procurement involves the sustainable and lawful acquisition and disposal of goods and services, stressing that strict compliance with procurement laws is essential for good governance. The event concluded with the formal inauguration of all statutory committees, marking another significant step toward strengthening institutional frameworks and promoting responsible and transparent governance in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government. Present at the event were the Vice Chairman Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, the Leader of the House Hon. Olayinka Mojeed Oluwafemi,Chief of Staff Hon. Issa Moruf Olayinka, Heads of Departments, Directors, and other top management staff of the Council.
