IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA HOLDS SUCCESSFUL STAKEHOLDERS' ENGAGEMENT ON 2026 BUDGET, EMPOWERS COMMUNITY VOICES

In a bold commitment to participatory governance and transparent fiscal planning, the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area on Monday 10th November, 2025 convened a pivotal stakeholders' meeting to deliberate on its proposed 2026 budget. The event, hosted at the ultra-modern Council Secretariat in Igando Oloja, brought together over 200 community leaders, traditional rulers, youth representatives, women groups, market associations, and civil society organizations. This inclusive forum underscored the administration's dedication to aligning public resources with the genuine needs and aspirations of residents, ensuring the budget serves as a true blueprint for sustainable development. The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who presided over the proceedings, emphasized that the 2026 fiscal year represents a milestone in the council's S.H.I.E.E.L.D agenda. "Our budget is not just a financial document; it is a covenant with our people," Hon. Olowa stated. "By opening the floor to your inputs today, we are guaranteeing that every kobo allocated reflects the priorities of Ibeju-Lekki's vibrant communities.” The meeting featured robust discussions across key sectors. Community members highlighted pressing needs such as the expansion of road networks to support the growing commercial activities the Local Government is currently experiencing, improved healthcare facilities to serve the expanding population; and youth empowerment programs. Notable contributions included calls for enhanced environmental safeguards to mitigate flooding risks, alongside other suggestions. Hon. Olowa concluded the event with a charge to all participants: "Ibeju-Lekki is rising, and your inputs are the fuel for our ascent. Together, we will deliver a 2026 budget that not only meets today's challenges but paves the way for tomorrow's prosperity." Present at the occasion were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Mojeed Oluwafemi Olayinka and all the Legislators, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Issa Maruf Olayinka, the Council Manager, Mr. Abiodun Oladipupo Otinwa, the Head of Department, Mrs. Senami Avoseh, traditional leaders amongst others.
