To review the implementation of the proposed transmission line project and discuss its potential impact on communities within the Local Government.
The meeting, which was held as part of efforts to ensure effective collaboration among relevant stakeholders, focused on the implementation plan for the transmission project, particularly the proposed route and the implications for communities and properties within the affected areas.
Representing the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the Vice Chairman Hon. Isiaka Yusuf emphasised the importance of ensuring that the project is carried out with due consideration for the interests and welfare of residents who may be affected.

During the meeting, it was disclosed that the design for the project had received the necessary approval, while funds had also been released to the contractor for the commencement of the project. It was further stated that materials required for the project were already being positioned for the commencement of work.
Discussions also centred on the issue of the Right of Way (RoW) and properties that may be affected by the project. Stakeholders noted that while the project is important to the development of the power sector, adequate consideration must be given to affected residents and property owners.

The stakeholders called for a transparent and well-coordinated compensation process for affected persons, stressing the need to properly identify residents and properties that would be impacted by the project. It was also emphasised that the affected communities should be adequately informed and carried along throughout the implementation process.
The meeting further noted that more than 600 houses and properties could potentially be affected along the project corridor. Stakeholders therefore stressed the need to minimize the impact of the project on residents while ensuring that those genuinely affected receive appropriate compensation.
Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo expressed appreciation to the stakeholders for their cooperation and reiterated the Local Government’s commitment to ensuring that the interests of its residents are adequately represented throughout the process. He also said the affected properties should come to the local government with their documents.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from stakeholders to continue working together to ensure that the transmission project is successfully implemented while protecting the interests of affected communities and promoting the overall development of Ibeju-Lekki.
