IBEJU-LEKKI LG DELEGATION VISITS IBEREKODO COMMUNITY RELIEF MATERIALS ON THE WAY

Delegation set up by the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, visited the affected communities plagued by the recent flooding, in a bid to recommend intervention aimed at providing immediate relief while also assessing the impact on the residents. The delegation which comprised the Chief Technical Adviser on Environment, Hon. Ajumobi Lateef, the Medical Officer for Health, Dr. Taiwo Sosanya, the CDC Chairman, Comrade Jabita Adeboye and Mr. Tunji Adewale was tasked with assessing the level of impact, compiling data on affected households, and initiating the distribution of immediate relief items as a short-term palliative measure while longer-term solutions are being planned. In line with the Chairman’s directive, the following relief items have been prioritized for distribution: * Treated mosquito nets * Anti-malaria drugs * Basic medical kits A comprehensive list of affected households has been compiled to ensure a transparent and equitable distribution process. The community leaders, including the CDC, will work closely with local authorities to supervise the allocation of materials and ensure that the most vulnerable households are prioritized. This humanitarian exercise marks the first step in a broader emergency response plan by the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government under the leadership of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa as the administration remains committed to not only alleviating the immediate suffering of residents but also working with relevant State and Federal agencies to find a lasting solution to the recurring flood issues in the region.
