It was a moment of joy, gratitude and reflection today Friday 21st November, 2025 as staff, family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the glorious retirement from active civil service and the birthday of an exemplary administrator, Mrs. Adenike Anike Oni, Head of Department, Procurement Unit. Mrs. Adenike Anike Oni, a seasoned Civil servant who rose through the ranks to the position of Head of Procurement Department, officially bowed out of the State Civil Service today after an illustrious 35 years of dedicated, impactful and unblemished service to the state. The twin celebration, which took place at the Conference Hall of the Council Secretariat, Igando-Oloja brought together serving and retired directors, community stakeholders, and family members to honour a woman described as “a rare gem, a mentor of mentors,a mother in Israel, and an embodiment of humility and diligence.” In her remarks, the celebrant, Mrs. Adenike Anike Oni, expressed profound gratitude to God for His faithfulness throughout her 60 years on earth and 35 years in service. She thanked the Executive Chairman and the current Conference 57, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa for the harmonious working relationship and conducive atmosphere while also appreciating her colleagues, mentees, and family for the overwhelming love shown to her. She charged younger officers to uphold the finest traditions of the civil service which is integrity, hard work, and fear of God while wishing everyone continued success in their endeavours. Tributes poured in as the Head of Department, Budget, Mrs. Avoseh Senami who represented the Council Manager, described her as “an officer of uncommon commitment who left indelible footprints in the procurement department. Director, Admin and Human Resources, Mr. Sotubo Adeyemi, hailed her as a compassionate leader who combined excellence with empathy, as other testifiers praised her selfless community service and philanthropic gestures over the decades. High points of the colourful event included the presentation of meritorious service awards, cutting of the retirement and birthday cakes, goodwill messages, Pens down, and the formal handover of a commemorative plaque in her honour. As Mrs. Adenike Anike Oni transits into a well-deserved retirement, she leaves behind a rich legacy of professionalism, mentorship, and nation-building that will continue to inspire generations of public servants and stakeholders.
