The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullah Sesan Olowa, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, on Tuesday 14th April, 2026 welcomed stakeholders and the general public to a high-level Environmental Sanitation Stakeholders Meeting on Sensitization and Advocacy for the re-introduction of monthly sanitation exercises across the Local Government Area. Speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, reiterated the commitment of the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government to a cleaner, healthier and more organized environment, urging every resident, market association, community leader and business owner to fully comply with the new sanitation regime. In his keynote address, the Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Ogungbo Temitope Sofwan, passionately appealed to all stakeholders to take personal responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean. He specifically warned against illegal trading on walkways and stated that a task force team will soon commence enforcement visits to non-compliant areas. The Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Fasali Adebanjo, reinforced the government’s firm stance, declaring that indiscriminate dumping of refuse will no longer be tolerated. The Head of Department, Environmental Services, Mr. Lagbalu, sensitized participants on the operational details of the reintroduced exercise. He announced that the monthly sanitation will hold on every last Saturday of the month from 6:30am to 8:30am. The meeting featured an interactive Question and Answer session which was well attended, with all concerns and enquiries adequately addressed by the officials present. Also present were all the Supervisors and Special Advisers, representatives of Kabiyesis, Baales in Council, the Community Development Committee (CDC), the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Market Women, LAWMA representatives, PSP operators amongst others.
