Assures Conference 58 Executives of increased welfare Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area and Chairman of Conference 57 of Local Government Chairmen in Lagos State, on Thursday 20th November, 2025 welcomed the branch chairmen of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) at the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat. The meeting underscored a renewed commitment to fostering harmonious industrial relations and elevating the welfare standards for local government workers across the state. In his keynote address, Hon. Olowa emphasized the pivotal role of NULGE in grassroots governance and development. The Executive Chairman who identified as a comrade, hailed the commitment of the Branch Chairmen as leaders who have their background in unionism which is a veritable tool for building good representatives. Quoting from the book of the former United States Secretary of States, General Collin Powell, "It worked for me; In life and leadership", it states, "Whatever job you're doing, do it well, as you never know who is watching you". "As leaders at the third tier of government, we recognize that our success is intertwined with the well-being and productivity of our workforce. I assure all Conference 58 executives and NULGE members that we are prioritizing increased welfare packages, and improved working conditions to motivate our dedicated staff," Hon. Olowa stated. The branch Chairman, NULGE, Ibeju-Lekki, Comrade Liafiz Lawal Adaranijo, eulogized the executive chairman who has been like a father to the body. He went further to reel some of the benefits workers have derived from the administration which includes, a dedicated Staff bus, increase in monthly Staff welfare imprest to two million naira, in addition to other things being enjoyed which serves as a source of motivation to the work force. Responding on behalf of the branch chairmen, Comrade Arowosafe Adesina, expressed gratitude for Hon. Olowa's proactive engagement. "This hosting reaffirms the administration's dedication to workers' welfare. We are confident that these assurances will translate into tangible benefits for our members and strengthen the bond between NULGE and local government leadership," the NULGE C of C stated. The event featured interactive sessions on labor rights, productivity enhancement, and future welfare strategies, attended by branch executives from across Lagos State. It aligns with broader efforts by Conference 58 to promote inclusive governance, as recently echoed in state-wide retreats and inaugurations. Also present were, the Director, Admin and Human Resources, Mr. Sotubo Adeyemi, Head of Department, Budget, Mrs. Avoseh Senami amidst other dignitaries.
