HON. OLOWA CONDUCTS FIELD ASSESSMENT OF ONGOING PROJECTS ACROSS IBEJU-LEKKI COMMUNITIES

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on Thursday 19th March, 2026 reinforced his administration’s governance philosophy with a comprehensive inspection of critical infrastructure projects across key communities in the Local Government Area. At the heart of this approach is a simple principle: governance must be seen, measured, and felt. The Chairman’s movement across project locations reflects a deliberate shift from routine oversight to hands-on verification, ensuring that every intervention aligns with the administration’s standards for quality, relevance, and long-term value. At *Iraboko CDA, Awoyaya,* attention was focused on ongoing community-led road rehabilitation. The Chairman acknowledged the initiative of residents, describing it as a model for participatory development. In further support of the community’s efforts, approval was granted for the paving of approximately 250 metres of road, complementing the drainage system already constructed by residents. In *Promise Land Estate,* the inspection centered on a road and drainage project driven by sustained collaboration between the community and the Local Government. The Chairman reviewed the completed drainage and interlocking road works, recalling that the Council had earlier supported the project with the provision of 600 bags of cement and 30 tonnes of granite. Following the inspection, additional approval was granted for the supply of materials to facilitate the construction of about 600 metres of drainage on both sides, including a culvert, while the paving of the road will be fully undertaken by the Local Government. In *Araromi Community,* the inspection extended beyond a single project to a coordinated set of interventions. In the company of His Royal Majesty, Oba Lukman Arowolo, the Gbadewolu of Araromi, the Chairman inspected Governor’s Road linking from the Lekki–Epe Expressway and approved the reclamation of portions already encroached upon by adjoining developments. The team also assessed the proposed site for a school complex as well as ongoing drainage works within the Ajah Community axis. These interventions reflect a more integrated approach to development, where access, education, and environmental management are addressed in a structured and complementary manner. The tour continued to *Lakowe,* one of the fastest-growing corridors within Ibeju-Lekki. Here, the focus was on the pace, durability, and technical quality of ongoing road construction. The Chairman expressed satisfaction with the level of progress while emphasizing that infrastructure delivery must meet both present needs and future demands. Throughout the inspection, a consistent message was reinforced: development is not an abstract promise but a continuous process of planning, execution, monitoring, and refinement. This exercise forms part of a broader administrative culture that prioritizes presence over distance, accountability over assumption, and outcomes over intentions.
