The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa recently attended the National Building Safety and Structural Integrity Initiative (NBSSII) stakeholders engagement organised by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) with the theme “Incessant Building Collapse in Nigeria: The Need for Strict Adherence to Building Codes and Regulations”, His Excellency, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu while delivering his speech, posited that every building in Lagos should be a place of safety, not a source of danger. While affirming that real progress has been made, as this year recorded the lowest rate of building collapse in two decades, he capped it up saying that the work is not yet fully done but continues. "We are enforcing tougher building codes, empowering our agencies, and holding everyone accountable. But safety is a shared duty and we cannot do it alone." he said. Engr. Olowa, who is a firm believer of adherence to professionalism, also commends the efforts of the State Government as Ibeju-Lekki is a fast developing Local Government where unsafe construction should not be abhorred. He also joined Mr. Governor to call on professionals , never to sign off on works that puts lives at risk as together, we can make building collapses a thing of the past in Lagos State.
