HON. ISIAKA YUSUF OLATUNJI LEADS DELEGATION TO NIGERIA INTERNATIONAL COASTAL BROADER PLATFORM

The Vice Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji recently led the Local Government delegation comprising officials of the Council and His Royal majesties as they attended a 3-day summit of the Nigeria International Coastal Broader Platform Stakeholders meeting which took place in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa-Ibom. The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno while declaring open the inaugural Nigerian International Coastal Summit, called for stronger cooperation to boost coastal border security, protect Nigeria’s coastal communities, develop the blue economy, and protect communities from climate change impacts. The governor opined that "Nigeria’s coastal platforms are inextricably linked with neighbouring countries,” stressing that “if not properly managed through bilateral treaties or existing legal instruments, border issues may exacerbate tensions around our border communities.” The importance of the summit is tied to deep national security implications and supports Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening coastal border management while advancing the blue economy. Other dignitaries in attendance included the Onibeju of Ibeju, Oba Waliu Olasunkanmi Razaq Oguntolu, the Onimedu of Orimedu, Oba Toheeb Yisa Abidemi Oyedele, Surveyor General, Lagos State amongst other dignitaries.
