The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, who also doubles as the Chairman, Conference 57 League of Chairmen, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on 20th January, 2026 participated in a high-level World Bank-supported capacity development workshop organized for Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State. The programme, facilitated in collaboration with relevant state and federal agencies, focused on the full adoption and implementation of the National Chart of Accounts (NCOA) and standardized Budget Classification frameworks. This initiative aims to strengthen fiscal management, promote transparency, ensure uniformity in financial reporting across all tiers of government, and enhance effective resource allocation for grassroots development. The workshop featured expert-led sessions on NCOA structure, coding systems, integration with the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), budget performance reporting, and compliance with the Fiscal Responsibility Commission guidelines. Participants engaged in interactive discussions, case studies, and hands-on exercises to address implementation challenges unique to Nigerian local governments. The capacity development programme is part of broader efforts to modernize public financial management across Nigeria's sub-national entities, supported by the World Bank through technical assistance and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
