The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to the safety and security of residents as the ongoing enumeration and registration exercise for commercial motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Keke) progresses in key communities, including Awoyaya, Abule Parapo, and Gbetu. This initiative, which requires all operators to register, obtain identification stickers, and comply with designated uniforms and operational guidelines, is a critical component of broader security measures introduced to address rising concerns in the local government area. The enumeration aims to enhance accountability, curb criminal activities often associated with unregulated commercial transport, and ensure a more organized and secure environment for all road users and residents. In the course of the exercise, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Issa Maruf Olayinka enjoined all Okada and tricycle operators to fully cooperate with the enumeration teams, as the Local Government led administration of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa is assuring them of fair treatment and support for compliant riders as residents are also called upon to report any suspicious activities to local security outfits or relevant authorities. The enumeration exercise continues and is expected to cover more communities in the coming days.
