The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on 2nd June, 2026 convened a high-level peace and security meeting with critical stakeholders across the Local Government Area.
The meeting, which attracted traditional rulers, the Association of Hotel Owners, Community Development Associations (CDAs), school owners, and community members, had in attendance top security operatives including the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC).
In his address, Hon. Olowa expressed gratitude to all participants for their commitment to the peace and progress of Ibeju-Lekki. He urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious, especially in light of recent rumours of strange faces in various communities.
"We must all be security conscious. If you see something suspicious, please do not take the law into your own hands. Report immediately to the nearest security agency," the Chairman pleaded.
He particularly called on hotel owners to maintain proper registration and records of all guests to aid security profiling and monitoring.
The Paramount Ruler of Ibeju-Agbe and Onibeju of Ibeju, Oba Waliu Olasunkanmi Oguntolu, lent his royal voice to the appeal, calling on residents to be watchful of new entrants into their communities. He commended the security agencies for their dedication and urged them to continue ensuring law and order prevails in the area.
The Commanding Officer, Epe Barracks, Lt. Col. Samson Enye, assured stakeholders that security personnel are working round the clock to safeguard lives and property.
"We are not resting on our oars. Our men work day and night to ensure the safety of residents. However, we appeal to the public to be cautious in the use of social media so as not to spread unverified information that can cause panic," Lt. Col. Enye stated.
Representatives of other security agencies also reiterated their commitment to collaborative security efforts in the Local Government.
The meeting concluded with a renewed resolve by all stakeholders to sustain the prevailing peace and security in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area.
