The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on Wednesday 29th April, 2026 graced the public lecture and induction ceremony of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) as a Special Guest, where he delivered keynote remarks emphasizing the pivotal role of engineering in national development. The event, organized to formally induct new members into the prestigious professional body, brought together seasoned engineers, industry leaders, and emerging professionals committed to advancing the engineering profession in Nigeria. In his keynote address, Hon. Olowa highlighted the strategic importance of engineering in driving infrastructure development, innovation, and sustainable growth, particularly within rapidly expanding regions such as Ibeju-Lekki. He encouraged the newly inducted members to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service to society. The Chief Host, Engr. Olufemi Dare, in his remarks, charged the inductees to look beyond monetary gains and embrace the broader responsibility of engineering as a tool for societal transformation. He urged them to contribute meaningfully to nation-building and uphold the ethics of the profession. Delivering the lecture of the day, Engr. Dr. Olufunmilade Akingbagbohun, former National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, spoke on the theme: “The Role of Engineers in Driving Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Growth Through Entrepreneurship.” She underscored the need for engineers to harness entrepreneurial skills, innovate solutions, and create value that addresses Nigeria’s developmental challenges. The event concluded with a dinner reception, providing an opportunity for networking and celebration, as newly inducted members were formally welcomed into the engineering community. The Nigerian Society of Engineers continues to play a vital role in fostering professional excellence and contributing to national development through capacity building and advocacy. Also present at the programme were the Vice Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo and the entire supervisors, Former member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Raheem Kazeem, the Council Manager, Dr. Adekoya Augustine and the entire Management team
