The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa joined other dignitaries, diplomats, and policymakers at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos, as Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu delivered the maiden edition of the Distinguished Lecture Series 2025. The lecture, themed “Lagos and Nigeria 2030: Projection of a World Power,” showcased Lagos’ bold developmental strides, particularly in agriculture, food security, and industrial growth. Governor Sanwo-Olu, while addressing the distinguished audience, reaffirmed Lagos’ position as a continental leader despite being Nigeria’s smallest State by land mass. He pointed to key projects including the Imota Rice Mill, the Lagos Central Food Security Systems and Logistics Park at Ketu-Ereyun in Epe, and the State’s role as host to Africa’s largest urea fertilizer production plant. The Governor also highlighted the half-a-trillion-naira “Produce for Lagos” programme, aimed at bolstering resilience in the food supply chain and securing Lagos’ future in line with its ambition to drive Nigeria’s global relevance by 2030. The lecture marks the beginning of a new intellectual tradition at the NIIA, bringing together leaders of thought to shape Nigeria’s future within the global arena. Hon. Olowa’s presence underscored Ibeju-Lekki’s alignment with Lagos State’s forward-looking agenda.
