GOVERNOR BABAJIDE OLUSOLA SANWO-OLU ONBOARD NEWLY ELECTED LG AND LCDA'S CHAIRMEN AND VICE AS OLOWA PROMISED INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE AND DEVELOPMENT AT GRASSROOT LEVEL

The Much anticipated retreat scheduled for the onboarding of the newly elected Local Government and Local Council Development Areas Chairmen and Vice Chairmen took place on Thursday, 7th August, 2025. The event was organized by The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftancy Affairs and Rural Development under Lagos State Government, with the theme, Driving Grassroots Development Through Strategic Governance to enhance Service delivery and Maximise Dividends of Democracy to the yearning electorates. Addressing the crops of the newly elected Local Government Chairmen and Vice, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu ably represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat, charged the Chairmen to work in unity and embrace the selfless approach to governance aimed at building people oriented initiatives and developmental projects to better the lives of the electorates. Speaking further, he Mandate the Mayor to be alive to their responsibilities as they have expressed their desire for the highly competitive seat of authority, not forgeting to emulate good initiatives from one another. Lastly, he enjoined the helmsmen to have a complete database of their respective localities and ensure they make good representation of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the platform that birth them by not disappointing Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Chairman of the Conference 57 League of Chairmen and the Executive Chairman of ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon.(Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, while addressing the gathering, expressed profound gratitude to the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, who was ably represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat for honouring the invitation and for availing them the privileged to learn the rudiments of good governance. He assured that the newly elected chairmen are fully prepared for the job with readiness for the task ahead being the closest government to the grassroots and saddled with the responsibilities of putting smiles on the faces of the diverse electorates loaded with much anticipation and expectations of better lives via good governance. Impactful highlight were not left out at the event as resource personnel and consultants specialized in various fields took each session to equip the Mayors on Acts of Effective Communication for Impactful Leadership, Preventing and Guiding against Corruption in Local Government Administration, Strengthening Local Security For Effective Policing and Community Safety and Public Procurement. Notable Dignitaries at the Retreat include, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftancy Affairs and Rural Development, Hon. Bolaji Kayode Roberts, House Committee Chairman on Local Government, Chieftancy Affairs and Rural Development, Hon.Sanni Okanlawon, Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftancy Affairs, Dr. Nurudeen Agbaje, Permanent Secretary Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Mr. Ahmed Seriki and lots of other dignitaries.
