In a major push towards a cleaner and more sustainable environment, the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources today Thursday 14th May, 2026 has completed the enumeration and accreditation of prospective environmental sweepers for a large-scale highway cleanup initiative across the area. The accreditation exercise, which was successfully concluded recently, aims to engage qualified individuals who will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness along major roads and highways in Ibeju-Lekki. This move is expected to significantly improve environmental hygiene, enhance the aesthetics of the area, and promote better health standards for residents and businesses. The official flag-off ceremony for the road cleaning exercise is scheduled for Tuesday, 19th May, 2026. This collaborative effort between the state ministry and the local government is part of broader strategies to tackle environmental challenges and ensure Lagos State remains a model of cleanliness and sustainability. Residents of Ibeju-Lekki have been urged to support the initiative by maintaining proper waste disposal habits and cooperating with the accredited sweepers.
