COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: LAGOS STATE HEALTH DISTRICT III IN CONJUNCTION WITH IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT, SENSITIZE RESIDENTS ON HEALTH BENEFITS

The Lagos State Health District III in conjunction with Ibeju-Lekki Local Government held a community engagement with residents from different parts of the Council Area as they sensitized the audience on the need to take their health with the seriousness it deserves as the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa was in attendance, accompanied by the Supervisor for Health, Hon. Tajudeen Sindiku Oniwonlu and other health officials. Speaking to the audience, Hon. Olowa appreciated the efforts of medical officers as he emphasized the importance of the noble profession. While charging the audience with the need to be closer to doctors, the Council Boss advised them to shun superstitions and take their health seriously by checking their blood pressure regularly . The Mayor also advised them to manage stress and not to allow it to impede their normal lives while also calling on the people to make use of the PHCs, particularly nursing mothers. In her discussion with the audience, Dr. Adenike observed that, not all illnesses are malaria related as studies have shown that out of 100% only 3% are cases coinciding with malaria owing to the Lagos State Government's preemptiveness in dealing with the scourge in the past. She highlighted some of these ailments as fatigues, while pleading with the people not to carry out self medication. She also called out to parents to give consent for their children to be vaccinated any time the need arises. Speaking further, she also enlightened the audience that currently, the Maternal NewBorn Child Health (MNBC) week is ongoing as the 28th of June will be for the National Immunization of oral polio vaccines while the routine immunization intensification programme will also kick off simultaneously,on 28th of June to 4th July, 2025, and the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) Vaccine against cervical cancer for female children that just clocked 9 years will also be administered.. Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has been rated as the Council Area with the largest record of immunization exercise in the entire state as this is a boost to the efforts of the Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa led administration in making health accessible for its citizens and life more abundant.
