The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, (LASIEC), paid an inspection visit to Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, to ascertain the state of preparedness towards the Local Government forth coming election. Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, welcome and acknowledged officials of the commission"s visit to the council Secretariat. He noted that since the inception of democracy into the Local Government Administration, over three decades ago, vacuum has been eradicated, noting that the newly built secretariat and legislative building, became necessary when the old secretariat building was burnt down during the "End Sars" nation wide protest, across the nation. He stressed that the newly built Council Secretariat and legislative building serves has proof of evidence of good governance amongst several other developmental projects and initiatives across other sectors, executed since inception of the Olowa"s led administration. Speaking Further, the helmsman further expressed his appreciation for the commission"s visitation and stated that Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has contributed significantly to deepen democracy in Lagos State and Nigeria as a Country. Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu Ighile, Chairperson, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, while addressing participant at the inspection tour appreciates and acknowledged the Executive Chairman, Executive Members, Legislative Members and Management team for the warm reception and hospitality given to the officials of the Commission. She expressed her satisfaction towards the preparation of the coming election by ibeju-Lekki Local Government She noted that, most of the previous temporary preparation initiated previously has become permanent. She expressed the importance of the third tier of Government, being the closest government to the people, which necessitates the significant role, LASIEC plays to ensure electoral participants comply and abide to rules and regulations during and after the election. The Commission"s Chairperson commend the state of preparation of the Mayor for the forth coming election and enjoined all stakeholders to work together to ensure the success of the forth coming election. Lastly, she assured the gathering that the Commission will ensure adequate provision of all electoral materials needed for the election, while appealing to the Mayor to ensure that maximum awareness and sensitisation of the electorates must be carry out to enlighten eligible residents, general public and stakeholders of their duty to come out and exercise their civic responsibility during the Local Government Forth Coming Election. In Closing, the Council Manager, Mr Otinwa Oladipupo Abiodun, gave the closing remarks, while reiterating the ibeju-Lekki Local Government Commitment"s towards adequate preparation to the Commission.
