The Executive Chairman Of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government; Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on Thursday 23rd January, 2025 was at Ibeju-Agbe to officially hand over the proposed building assigned for Vocational Skill Acquisition to Lagos State Government Agency For Mass Literacy Adult And Non Formal Education. Speaking at the event the Mayor expressed his unreserved appreciation to his principal, His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State for granting the approval for the proposed vocational Skill acquisition centre. Speaking further, he stated that administration has been striving to get the approval of the project since four years ago, as at the inception of the administration, hence the need to embark on actualizing the initiative which in turn will empower youths and residents within the community and its environs with various vocational skills such as Tailoring, Hair Making, Catering and Baking, Cooking, Digital Skills, Computer Training, Etc. He however enjoined youths within the community to avail themselves the opportunity presented before the community for free, to make themselves available to learn and acquire these skills , so as to improve their economy status and relevance within the community. He Stated that the era of looking for hand out in form of free cash from the Government should be a thing of the past, as the youths can empower themselves via the respective skills acquire and further empower themselves economically. Lastly he implored the assigned contractor in charge of the project to ensure that he outsource the work force needed for the project within the youths and residents within the community to execute the project once it commence. Presenting the keynote address on behalf of her principal, Director, Mrs Oluwakemi Kalesanwo, the Team Lead, of the Lagos State Government Agency For Mass Literacy, Adult And Non Formal Education, Director, Mrs. Olaide Oladujoye. She implored all present at the gathering to give their unwavering supports to the contractor, to ensure that the project comes to fruition and reality. Speaking further, she appealed to the youths to seize up the opportunity presented before them to acquire various vocational skills of their choice, so as to empower themselves economically, especially at this Pressing state of the economy of our nation. Lastly, she intimate the gathering about the various vocational skills lined up for respective students, like Digital Skills, Computer Training, Tailoring, Shoe making, Barbing, Hair Making, Catering, Cooking etc. all Fully paid for and financed by the Lagos State Government Agency For Mass Literacy Adult And Non Formal Education. The Assigned Contractor, for the project, while addressing the gathering, implored youths and residents within the community to give their unflinching supports to the project as it commence. The Secretary to Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, while addressing the gathering appreciates the Executive Chairman for his consistency in ensuring that developmental projects are enacted within Ibeju-Agbe Community. He further appeal to the Mayor that more infrastructural projects are still needed within the community. The Representative of His Royal Majesty , Kabiyesi, Oba Waliu Olasunkanmi Rasaq, Chief Agbaje Adesegun, speaking at the gathering, expressed profound appreciation to the Mayor, on behalf of the Kabiyesi, and the Lagos State Government for making the proposed project a reality. In implored youths and residents to embrace the opportunity to acquire respective vocational skills of their choice accorded to them for free.
