In line with the environmental sustainability agenda of the Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa led administration, the Chief Technical Adviser on environment to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Lateef Ajumobi, led a team of the Ibeju-Lekki Community Corps (Folumo) to ensure compliance against hawking wares along the pedestrian walkways as the team also successfully conducted a push back operation targeting encroachments from Akodo Market down to Eleko. In a similar vein, the Environmental Task Force team of the Cleaner Ibeju-Lekki Initiative and the Keke Jaja Team, conducted a strategic community engagement exercise which was aimed at sensitizing and informing community leaders about indiscriminate waste dumping and maintaining a healthy environment. Led by the Technical Assistant, Ogbeni Jamiu Olawale and the Business Development Manager, Mr. Lateef Olawale Talib, the team covered Magbon Alade, Okun Ilado, Orimedu, and Akodo communities. The initiative also sought to secure the support of these leaders for the government’s upcoming enforcement operations on waste management, particularly along high ways and beach fronts. Members of the team used the moment to sensitize the community leaders on the need for residents to have proper waste disposal methods of toilet facilities while also ensuring that they patronize the Garbage Collection Tricycle (Keke Jaja) for their waste pick up. The Hon. Olowa led administration is poised to ensure a safe and cleaner environment for its citizens as the cooperation of all is needed.
