To be Led by High Chief Rosulilahi Adewale Oluwa as he affirms upholding tenets of tradition ensuring inclusive representation
In a ceremony underscoring the importance of traditional leadership and community stability, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa today Monday 16th February, 2026 officially inaugurated the new Executive Committee (Excos) of the Council of Baales. High Chief Adewale Rosulilahi Oluwa was installed as the new Chairman heading the esteemed Council.The event highlighted the smooth leadership transition within the Council, a key institution representing Baales (traditional rulers) across the towns and villages of Ibeju-Lekki.
In his keynote address, Hon. Olowa commended the Council for demonstrating clear evidence of growth and maturity. He congratulated the members on the seamless handover from the previous regime to the new leadership. “You must be seen to be fair to all and carry everyone along,”. Hon. Olowa urged the new Excos. He emphasized the need for ethical leadership, justice, and fairness in all dealings, charging them to serve as a stabilizing force in Ibeju-Lekki. He further advised strict adherence to established procedural rules before admitting new members into the Council, to maintain its integrity and effectiveness.
High Chief Adewale Rosulilahi Oluwa, in his acceptance remarks, expressed profound gratitude to the immediate past Chairman, Chief (Dr) Adekunle Taiwo, for his dedicated service and leadership. He also extended appreciation to Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa for his unwavering support and partnership with traditional institutions. The new Chairman pledged to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor by strengthening unity and harmony among all Baales. He committed to advocating for the welfare and development of towns and villages, fostering close collaboration with the Local and State Governments, and preserving the area’s rich cultural heritage and traditional values while adapting to modern realities for the benefit of the people.
The inauguration reinforces the vital role of the Council of Baales as a bridge between traditional governance, community aspirations, and formal administrative structures in driving inclusive progress in Ibeju-Lekki.
Also present at the event were the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka represented by Hon. Abidemi Razaq Aromire, the representative of the Onibeju of Ibeju-Agbe, HRM Oba Waliu Olasunkanmi Oguntolu who was represented by the Otunba, immediate past chairman of the Baales in Council, High Chief (Dr.) Adekunle Taiwo, the CDC Chairman, Comrade Adeboye Jabita, amongst others.
