Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, under the leadership of Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Executive Chairman, organized a sensitization workshop for market traders on proper waste disposal and management.
Hon. Engr, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa in his address emphasized the need to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse on our expressways and community roads. He insisted that, Ibeju-Lekki is not a dumping ground for refuse.
Refuse dumping destroys road beauty and poses health risks. He also directed all market management to procure big waste bins for collection or contact Keke JaJa for collection and transportation to landfill .
Illegal refuse collectors ( Cat Pushers ) will be arrested and prosecuted from next week.
Also , the Council Manager Mr Otinwa Oladipupo Urged market traders to support the government’s initiatives on waste management while the CTA on Environment, Hon. Ajumobi Lateef listed the markets where such illegal activities are to be more organized in dealing with the issue of waste management
