YEAR 2024 BUDGET PREPARATION; IBEJU-LEKKI OLOWA CONSULTS OPINION LEADERS

Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, under the leadership of Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa yesterday Tuesday 21st November, 2023 hosted the Local Government’s Stakeholders to get their inputs in readiness for the preparation of the Year 2024 Budget. In his opening address, Mayor Olowa after giving account of stewardship of his Administration since inception emphasised on the importance of Stakeholders in Governance at all levels, particularly in Grassroots Development. Hon. Olowa further reiterated on how their contributions have assisted in the provision of projects and programmes needed in various communities and executed by the Local Government: “Because we count you worthy, we invited you here today to get directly your yearnings and lacks in order to make adequate budgetary provisions for the seven (7) Political Wards that make up Ibeju-Lekki Local Government “the Mayor said. “Every decision making process acceded to is done based on recommendations and opinions of great leaders that formed the major part of the Council’s Stakeholders, he further buttressed. Opinion leaders including Royal Fathers, Chiefs and Baales, Political Leaders, Market Leaders, CDC/CDA Representatives, Youth Representatives, Artisans, Farmers and others who spoke at the occasion commended the Hon. Olowa led Administration for its achievements at all levels in the past while stating their requests per Political Ward for it to be captured in the Year 2024 Budget. The Council Chairman seized the opportunity of the Consultative Forum to brief the gathering on the current agreement with EKEDC regarding the epileptic Electric Power Supply the Council Area is facing with the assurance that a lasting solution will be proffered soon with all hands on deck. The influx of illegal immigrants into variously communities of the Council Area was also raised and adequate solutions and suggestions was given to arrest the situation of illegal immigrants as well as the best way to curb the peddling of narcotics on beaches and other places in the area. The Council Mayor ended with a promise of his Administration to adequately take into cognisance, capture in the Budget and make a reality of most if not all of the stakeholders’ requests next year. Also in attendance were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka ably represented by the Deputy Leader, Hon. Shuaib Musibau, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo, SLG, Councillors, Other Exco Members, Council Manager, Mr. Otinwa Oladapo, Management Members, Council of Baales, Council of Chiefs, Religious Leaders, CDC/CDA, Law Enforcement Agencies, Market Excos, CDC/CDA Exco, Youth Representatives, Ward Representatives amongst others.

NEWLY COMPLETED ARAPAGI PHC TO GET MEDICAL EQUIPMENTS, FURNITURE’S AND OTHERS

The Medical Officer of Health of the Council Dr. Kehinde Ososanya on Wednesday 15th November, 2023 on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon.(Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa visited the newly completed Arapagi Primary Health Centre in Arapagi Village to conduct a needs assessment of the newly constructed PHC. The aim of the visit was also to identify the medical equipments, furniture and other items that will be required in the PHC to make it function maximally. Speaking with the Baale and other community leaders, it was gathered that the new Arapagi PHC is a blessing and will serve numerous adjoining communities as it is the only health centre in the riverine area. They expressed their happiness and applauded the Olowa led Administration for bringing good health care close to the people. The Arapagi PHC will be ready for commissioning soon.
