The Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health week which commenced on Monday, 6th November 2023 in all the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State finally ends with commendations from residents of the State for providing free medical care especially during this period to tackle various maternal, child and adolescent’s health challenges.
Ibeju-Lekki local Government under the pragmatic leadership of Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa who collaborated with Lagos State Health District III
in a form of awareness visit for the programme received the Lagos State Ministry of Health State Facilitator for Ibeju Lekki, Mr Olugbadebo and Council’s Health Workers who were on an advocacy visit to the Chairman at the beginning of the Health Week to appreciate his commitment towards the delivery of public health services to the people of Ibeju- Lekki and also to seek his support towards the success of the MNCAH week.
The Council Mayor warmly received the health personnel’s and reiterated on the usual support of his Administration for this life changing medical programme through the provision of ample logistics and an enabling environment for the benefit of residents of Ibeju-Lekki and the success of the 5-Days medical mission.
In view of this,the MNCAH mission in Ibeju- Lekki LGA provided medical services which included Deworming of about 20,366 children between the ages of 1-5 years old with Albedazole Tablets.
A total of 21,953 children between the ages of 6 months to 5 years old also received Vitamin A which is essential for their sight / vision, immune system,their overall growth and development while other services like Free Antenatal, Postnatal, Post Delivery Care, Free Malnutrition Screening and other services were equally rendered in various designated posts within the Council Area while Health workers also visited Primary Schools to reach out to the Children
The Medical Officer of Health of the Council, Dr. Kehinde Ososanya who coordinated the programme under the Supervision of the Local Government’s Supervisor for Health, Hon. Tajudeen Oniwonlu applauded the turn out and compliance of residents for the health week while enjoining residents to visit all Primary Health Care Centres within the Local Government to benefit from the robust medical provisions being provided by the Hon. Olowa led Administration.
