In a bid to promote academic standard and good communication skills in Public Schools in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government under her progressive Executive Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on Friday 29th September, 2023 held the Grand Finale of second edition of the Inter schools Debate and Quiz Competition where many Senior, Junior and Primary Schools participated outstandingly.

In his opening address, the Council Mayor welcomed all participating Schools and other dignitaries while taking the scholastic gathering through the achievements of his Administration on Education in over two years.

Mayor Olowa recounted the laudable programme the annual competition has academically impacted on students while recounting the significant role of the Pan Atlantic University (PAU), a citadel of learning in the Council Area played for students to achieve educational excellence through laudable programmes like STEM and weekend Extra Coaching Classes for Science Students. Both projects have proven its worth because of the outstanding performances of Ibeju-Lekki students in State and National Examinations and related activities.

Hon. Olowa also emphasised and encouraged participants on the need to perform maximally in the competition and accept the outcome in good spirit while wishing them the best.

In the same vain, the Supervisor for Education, Hon. Ogungbo Sofwan Temitope also gave a recap of the maiden edition which started last year while stating the impact of the Education Department in achieving these academic feats.

The year 2023 Debate and Quiz Competition which kicked off with preliminaries few weeks back which produced participants for the grand finale from the among the numerous Primary Schools, Junior Secondary Schools and Senior Secondary Schools as competitors in the Quiz and Debate Categories.

In the keenly contested Quiz Competition in the Primary School’s Category, Tsangaya Primary School, Orofun came 3rd, RCM Primary School, Ayeteju got the 2nd position while CPS, Lakowe got the 1st Position. The Quiz Junior School’s category ended with Elemoro Junior School in the 2nd position while Iwerekun Junior School got the
1st Position.

The Senior Secondary School category on the other hand has in the 3rd position Orimedu Senior School, Iwerekun Senior Secondary School as 2nd and Ibeju Senior Secondary School emerged in the
1st position respectively.

The keenly contested Debate Session in the Primary School category had in the
3rd position Tsangaya Primary School, RCM Primary School as the 2nd position while the CPS Primary School, Lakowe got the 1st position.

The Debate Junior Schools Category produced Debojo Comm. Junior School in the 3rd position, Iwerekun Community School as 2nd and Elemoro Community School as 1st Position.

Debate Senior School’s category has
Iwerekun Senior Secondary School in the 3rd position, Magbon Alade Senior Secondary School as 2nd while Ibeju Senior Secondary School got the 1st position.

Consequently, all first place winners in the Senior, Junior and Primary Schools went home with the sum of #200,000.00,
#150,000.00 and #100.000.00 as stated while 2nd and 3rd place winners went away with consolation prizes.

It was indeed a show of talent and intelligence from the students while dignitaries and spectators applauded brilliant performances of all the participants.

Also at the occasion were the Representative of Hon. Bayo Balogun (MHR), Prince Samsideen Elemoro, Legislative Members, Hon. Supervisors and Special Advisers, Rep. of Onibeju, the Opemoluwa of Ibeju-Lekki kingdom, Rep. of the Tutor General, Mrs Ajibola Morebise, the HOD. Education, Mr. Adetimeyin peter and other Management Members, Mr. Frank Wiggle, Rep.Pan Atlantic University (PAU), MD Lekki Worldwide, Dr Tunde Sodare, Abba Int. Ltd CEO, Hon. Mrs Adeleke Bolanle who was represented by Mr Oluwatosin Ogungbo, the LGEA Executive Secretary, Alhaji Onibeju, Panelists, Members of the organising Committee, Teachers and Students of Schools, Gentlemen of the press amongst others.
