I rejoice with Ibeju-Lekki Muslims on the completion of the month long Ramadan fast culminating in the Eid celebration of today. The blessed month of Ramadan is an auspicious season of intense devotion by Muslims. The faithfuls endure complete abstinence from eating, drinking and other desires during the day, while the greater part of their night is spent in fervent worship of almighty Allah to gain his pleasure. The primary essence of this ascetic spell of abstinence ,rigorous worship and spiritual exertion is to imbibe the virtues  of obedience, perseverance, sacrifice, love, charity, good manners and other godly dispositions which bring man closer to his creator and ensure he succeeds in this life and the hereafter. It is my hope that the noble lessons of the last 29 days will continue to find expression in our conduct and lifestyles beyond Ramadan and make us better citizens who seek the best for compatriots and country. I pray for peace and progress in Nigeria and our individual homes. In a bid to promote the importance of Islam and need to propagate sunnah during this period of Ramadan, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government under   the leadership of Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa yesterday Thursday 20th April, 2023 held her Annual Ramadan Lecture tagged ‘Spending In The Cause of Allah’. In his opening address, the Council Boss applauded the Council’s Muslim Ummah consisting of League of Imam of Ibeju-Lekki Chapter, women and others present for upholding the tenets of Islam and striving for the Council Area to be a better place through their continuous prayers. Hon. Olowa while stating the benefits of the programme also enjoined the Alihulamaus to intensify their prayers in order to set  Ibeju-Lekki and its people where they belong as the Council Area is becoming one of the economic hub in the State. The guest lecturer who is the Chief Missioner General of Ibeju-Lekki, Alhaji Abdul-Fatai Soliu Idunu emphasised on the need to expend money and resources for the sake of Allah and towards the cause of Islam to achieve great rewards in this world and the hereafter. He, however, enjoined Muslims all over the world to be steadfast in their dealings with fellow humans and Almighty Allah as in the spirit of Ramadan. Also present at the event were the Lagos State House of Assembly Member, Ibeju-Lekki Constituency (2), Hon. Raheem Kareem Adewale, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo and other Members of the  Executive Council, the Royal Fathers, the Chief Imam-General, Alhaji Abdul Semiu Ajayi and other Religious Leaders, APC Party Leaders, Market Leaders, Youth Representatives, Management Members and Staff amongst others.
