MAYOR OLOWA PRESENTS YEAR 2023 APPROPRIATION BILL TO LG’S LEGISLATURE.

The Year 2023 Appropriation Bill of #4,220,045,947.17 tagged “Budget of Economic Development and Sustainable Growth” was presented today Monday 23rd January, 2023 to the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government 6th Legislative Council ably led by its pragmatic Leader of the House, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka Oluwafemi who received the entourage of the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa at plenary. While addressing the 6th Legislative Council, Hon. Olowa took the House through the performance of last year’s Budget while unveiling the Year 2023 Budget of Economic Development and Sustainable Growth as charged to various sectors. The Year 2023 Appropriation Bill he said, is divided into three parts which are Proposed Revenue, Recurrent and Capital Expenditures respectively. The Proposed Revenue which includes the estimate from – Federal Allocation is 1,596,655,888.72, -VAT: 2,147,390,058.45 Sub total: 3,744,045,947.17. Internally Generated Revenue by the Local Government and State Coordinated Revenues are estimated at #296,000,000 with adequate provision for Loan opportunities. Recurrent Expenditure which consists of Staff Salary, Teachers Salary, Political Office Holders Allowances, Pension Cost, Overhead: – Social Service Expenditure is estimated at 2,671,939,263.28while Capital Expenditures in total will gulp an estimated sum of 1,548,106,683.89 all amounting to the sum of #4,220,045,947.17 being the budget size of the fiscal year under review,the Chairman relayed. Mayor Olowa seized the avenue to commend the Lawmakers for their unflinching support in the past year while acknowledging the importance of all Political Office Holders, Management, Staff and all opinion Leaders of the Council Area for the achievements of the Administration across Sectors in 2022. The Chairman however, enjoined all Stakeholders to beave more support for a more fruitful year 2023. In his acceptance remark,the Council Leader, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka after plenary praised the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa and other members of the Executive Council for towing and surpassing the steps of his predecessors in the engagement of Legislators in activities that concerns the various Wards they represent as well as that of the Council Area as a whole. The Council Leader ended with a promise to the Executive Council for a favourable reply after thorough scrutiny of the Year 2023 Budget Estimate. Also at the occasion were the Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo, other Legislative Members, other Executive Members, the Council Manager, Engr. Akitoye Olubunmi and Team, Royal Fathers, Party Leaders, Council Staffers amongst others.

LAGOS STATE DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGENCY IN CONJUNCTION WITH IBEJU LEKKI LG SAYS “NO TO DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency in conjunction with Ibeju Lekki Local Government Monday 16th January,  2023 held a talk session with citizens of the Council Area on issues of Domestic and sexual violence. Representing Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government was the Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Abisola Azeez who counselled the audience on the need to come forth and not die in silence as Domestic violence is an issue on the rise. She equally charged the audience to ensure they report acts of violation as it is a collective responsibility. Other speakers also included, Mr. Damilare Adewusi, HOD, DSVA, ASP Roseline Ilekhue In attendance were the Head of Department, Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Tawakalitu Apena and Mrs. Abata Bakare for Ibeju Lekki LGA and Lekki LCDA respectively.
