In a bid to promote Tourism and revive the economic value of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, the Administration of Hon.(Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the Council Chairman in collaboration with YANKEE Entertainment threw the Council Area into a frenzy on Friday 5th November, 2022 at the Eleko Beach ground where the mother of all Beach Carnivals took place. It was a colorful and aesthetic occasion which showcased the allure in the culture and tradition of the Ibeju-Lekki people through masquerades, cultural, Boat Regatta, Swimming, Talent displays, board games and other interesting activities. In his opening address, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olowa warmly welcomed all notable personalities at the occasion while stating reasons the idea of the first of its kind Carnival in Ibeju-Lekki was conceived. The Chairman emphasised on the role and importance of Tourism in economic growth of every society “this Administration is back to the basics to revive the old glory of Ibeju-Lekki to its position as one of the tourism hubs in the State through collaborations and promotions” he said. Mayor Olowa while applauding every member of his led Administration for being part of history and for the success of the programme, the Council Chairman also thanked the entire people of Ibeju-Lekki for their support and promised to that the next fest at the beach will be bigger and better. The Council Chairman in his zeal to encourage talents promised to link up the Mighty, the duo of two boys who were given an opportunity to perform at the carnival with notable music promoters to build their career. In the remarks of the Wife of the Executive Governor of Lagos, Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-olu who was ably represented by the Medical Director of Akodo General Hospital, Dr. Folashade expressed her support for the course of Tourism and other developmental programmes while also promising to assist when called upon. She appreciated the leadership of the Local Government for following in the steps of the State Government for a better and a greater Lagos. The Carnival which was attended by creme de la creme of Epe Division and Lagos State as a whole ended with beautiful performances from the likes of Obesere, Teni, 9ice, Q-dot and others artists. Also at the occasion were the GAC member and Apex Leader of the APC, Epe Division, Chief Akanni Seriki (Bamu), Rep. of Sen. Mikhail Adetokunbo Abiru, Lagos East Senatorial District, Prince Bayo Balogun (MHR), Hon. Mojeed Fatai, (LAHA) Ibeju-Lekki (1), Hon. Kazeem Raheem (LAHA) Ibeju-Lekki (2), Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce and Industry, Hon. Abiola Olowu, Ibeju-Lekki Legislators, Executive Members, Management and Staff and other notable personalities.
