In a bid to advocate the importance of Post natal care in the growth of children and in determining the state of health of mothers, the Lagos State Office of Civic Engagement, Alaro City and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government yesterday Thursday 27th November, 2022 sensitised nursing mothers on the need to adequately care for themselves during the breast feeding period.
In her remark, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale who was ably represented, affirmed that indeed when a child has all necessary care from infancy, it not only contributes to the success of our immediate families but also has a great role to play in the emancipation from societal ills which begets a peaceful society. This programme is one of the interest of the Lagos State THEME Agenda on mother, child, infant development and must be followed for future growth.
A representative of Alaro City, an NGO who are the major contributor to the event also commended the Lagos State Government especially the office of Civic Engagement and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government for their massive support in creating an avenue of meeting mothers and their children to give her organisation’s Widow’s mite to to improve healthy living.
She also reiterated on the commitment of her organisation to continue to support the Government in the reduction of child maternal mortality rates.
Alaro City also presented mothers at the occasion post natal food packs to last them for 12weeks.
The Council Mayor of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan on his part did not only commended the organisers of the programme but also appreciated the mothers for their patience, love and being the support system for their families. He also emphasized that the Local Government is also investing on health by improving the quality of health care delivery through the provision of basic amenities and support system in the interest of the people of Council Area.
Hon. Olowa also seized the medium to seek for more Public Private partnership in the Health Care and other sectors to compliment the effort of the Government at various levels.
Also present at the occasion were the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka Oluwafemi, and other Legislative Members, the Supervisor for Health, Hon. Sindiku Oniwonlu, the Council’s S.A on Civic Engagement, Hon. Odupe Wakilat among other Supervisors and Special Advisers, the Head of Administration Engr. (Mrs) Olubunmi Akitoye and the entire Management team of the Local Government, also Officials of the Lagos State Office of Civic Engagement amongst others.
