Ibeju-Lekki Local Government in conjunction with Lagos State Waste Management Authority(LAWMA) today Tuesday 30th August, 2022 hosted Stakeholders’ on how generated domestic wastes can be properly disposed to enhance Cleaner and healthier environment within the Local Government Area.

In his opening address, the Executive Chairman, Ibeju-LekkiLocal Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa welcomed all opinion leaders of the Local Government while applauding LAWMA for deeming it fit to bring such laudable programme to Ibeju-Lekki.
Hon. Olowa stated that the Stakeholders’ Meeting coincided with the plan of his Administration to convene meetings with various communities on how the menace of environmental nuisances can be abated with particular emphasis on participation of PSP Operators.

In the address of the Managing Director of LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odunboni ably represented by Mr. Adekunle Adebayo who highly commended the efforts of the Hon. Olowa led Administration for being the first out of the 57 LGs/LCDAs to invest in waste policing and other Environmental interventions which includes appointment of 300 Street Sweepers, recruitment of Environmental Taskforce and Gardeners under the Ibeju-Lekki Cleaner Initiative, all which has been complimenting the efforts of LAWMA where and when necessary.

Mr. Adekunle, however appealed to residents of the Council Area to dispose there refuse appropriately to avoid Environmental hazards and degradation.
He also advised stakeholders to join the wagon of people turning waste to wealth while chastising the people to avert indiscriminate dumping of refuse and advised individuals/ Communities to report any anomaly through LAWMA toll free line 07080601020 to channel related complaints and observations.

(HRM), the Onisolu of Solu Alade, Oba Muhideen Balogun who was also at the occasion recounted his experience and emphasised on the need for enlightenment of residents on proper waste disposal.

Residents also tendered their complaints with the promise from LAWMA and the Local Government to tackle such issues headlong.

Also at the occasion were the Vice Chairman of the Council who is also the Supervisor for Environment, Hon. Yusuf Olatunji, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka Oluwafemi, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo, other Legislative and Executive Members,
Management Team, LAWMA representatives, Royal Fathers, Religious Leaders, CDC/CDA Representatives, Leaders and Members of the All progressives Congress (APC),
Market Leaders, Youth Representatives and Artisans amongst others.
