PVC COMMUNITY SENSITIZATION; IBEJU LEKKI COUNCIL CHAIRMAN CALLS FOR MORE WOMEN INCLUSION

The Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on Friday 17th June, 2022 called on the women folk to be actively involved in the electoral process ahead of 2023 polls. The presentation which was organized by PVC drive campaign organization carried out Permanent Voters Card Community sensitization and tagged the programme “PVC4Her” which involved the women folk which held at the CDC Hall in the Council Secretariat.
In the presentation by Hon. Olowa who was represented by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Akadiri Ayorinde, titled “Addressing voter apathy amongst women”, the Council Boss charged the women to sensitize others on the importance of the PVC aside identifying them as bona-fide citizens of the country, it gives them the right to determine who takes charge of affairs which will also determine their fate. He called on the women to shun voting apathy as it is their civic responsibility to get it right as their vote is their power.
Comrade Jimadu Saheed, the General Secretary of the NYCN, also spoke in the same vein while addressing the women folk on their importance in the polity. Other speakers include Comrade Hassan Abdulsalam, who advised members of the audience on the proper way to thumbprint on ballot papers as well as the Local Government APC Women Leader, Alhaja Mobirat Raji who charged women to take up elective positions and shun all forms of inferiority complex.
The convener of the programme, Ambassador Abdulramoni Abdulfatai was optimistic about successful elections come 2023 but pleaded that the need to get the PVC is of utmost priority.
Other dignitaries who attended includes Comrade Moshood Afeez, Mr. Bankole Olusegun, Alhaja Keji Abbass (Iya Park), Mrs. Kemi Olowu, and a host of others.
