IBEJU LEKKI COUNCIL HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS’ MEETING ON INEC REGISTRATION, NATIONAL POPULATION COMMISSION.

The Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon Abdullahi Sesan Olowa on Wednesday 20th July, 2022 hosted stakeholders in the Council Area on the need to obtain the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Permanent Voters Card (PVC) while also cooperating with the National Population Commission saddled with the responsibility of giving accurate Head count of residents in the Council Area.
The meeting which had the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, the Electoral Commission Officer, Mr. Gbadebo Babalola and the Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission, Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin in attendance, saw Hon. Olowa enlightening the audience on the importance attached to getting registered as it gives the demographical Area an edge in decision making at all levels. He further reiterated on the need to come out in large numbers as this will help strengthen new polling units just created by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while assuring that the Local Government Council will continue on its usual assistance of ensuring that it spreads to every part of the Council Area.
Hon. Prince Bayo Balogun, Member of the House of Representatives, representing Ibeju Lekki Federal Constituency in the green Chambers in his address lauded the zealousness of Hon. Olowa and gave the plea that the people should rise to the occasion and seize the opportunity of getting registered as he also called on parents whose children and ward have attained the voting age of 18 to also get registered.
The serving Lagos State House of Assembly Member representing Ibeju-Lekki Constituency 1, Hon. Mojeed Adebola Fatai (MFA) equally hailed the Council Chairman for his initiative on the Stakeholders meeting. He called on the audience not to take with levity the issue of PVC registration as the population of any unit determines its strength in terms of negotiation.
Others who spoke at the event include the Apex Leader, Hon Tansiru Shoniyi, the APC Party Chairman, Hon. Aliasau Eletu and representatives of the Commission.
The National Population Commission Commissioner, Mrs Bimbola Saliu Hundeyin alongside the Council Chairman, Hon Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, accompanied by Hon. Prince Bayo Balogun and other dignitaries went on a sensitization tour to Solu Alade and Debojo for the Trial Census organized by the National Population Commission in readiness for the year 2023 Census while also sensitizing residents on the proposed.
In attendance were, Hon. Gbenga Balogun, the Lagos East Senatorial District Youth Leader, Legislative members, Supervisory Councilors, Traditional Rulers, Party Stalwarts, Mrs. Mobi Raji, LGA woman leader and a host of other dignitaries.
