In the wake of the economic instability,
a proactive Government at all levels should take measures to harness and expand its revenue base in other to fulfil promises of Infrastructural and Social provisions for its citizens. This is why the place of Internally Generated Revenue for the third tier of Government is germane.

In cognisance to this,the pragmatic and versatile Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa led Council Officials to markets within the Council Area for Revenue Advocacy.

The Council team started their Revenue campaign from Idi-Orogbo Market also known as Kara.
While addressing the Executives of the market, the Mayor of the Council applauded the traders for their support of his led Government so far while reiterating on the need to promptly pay on stipulated revenue items.

Hon. Olowa further stated his commitment to reciprocate by making markets more conducive for selling and other activities.

In his response the Hausa head and the Iyaloja of the Market commended the Executive Chairman for showing so much concern on the state of markets thereby boosting there morale to invest in the Council Area through prompt payment of Rates and Levies for its general growth.

The same scenario played out at Eleko, Magbon Alade and Akodo Markets respectively with Hon. Olowa using the opportunity to inform Kayetoro traders of the intention of the State Government to begin the construction of Eleko Road which will definitely affect some of their structures.
Olowa, however assured them of ongoing talks with the State Government as it concerns compensations.

Handbills, jingles and verbal contacts were deployed to sensitize the people on the importance and benefits of payment of Internally Generated Revenue.

In the same vein, Frajend a leading Motorcycle Company in the Council area also presented the Local Government with a Motorcycle as a support for IGR.

Also part of the Revenue Advocacy Team were the Leader of the Council’s 6th Legislative Arm, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka Oluwafemi, the Council Manager, Engr.
(Mrs) Olubunmi Akitoye, the Council Treasurer, Mr. Onabanjo Sunday, Head of Public Affairs, Hamzat Maryam (Mrs), Area Officer, Mrs Kuju Johnson, Media Crew of the Local Government amongst others.
