MAIDEN CHIEFTANCY MEETING

TEXT OF ADDRESS DELIVERED BY THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT, HON.(ENGR.) ABDULLAHI SESAN OLOWA AT THE MAIDEN CHIEFTANCY MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 30TH NOVEMBER, 2021 AT THE COUNCIL SECRETARIAT.

It is my pleasure to be here this beautiful morning. I am elated to welcome you all because this is the maiden meeting to be held with Traditional Rulers that upholds the culture and customs of the various communities that make up Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.

It is important to categorically State here that the role of Oba’s, Baales, Chiefs and other traditional title holders within our dear Local Government and the Yoruba context cannot be over emphasised in governance.

We as a Government should therefore, revert to the voice of wisdom and tradition to perform maximally and provide our people with the dividend of democracy through custodians of culture representing the people.

Our fathers here present, permit me to sincerely air my view on the present chieftancy crisis facing our various communities. I will seize this opportunity to appeal to aggrieved parties to let us amicably settle our grievances for a peaceful coexistence. We should always remember we are not only related by lands but also by blood despite our differences. My fathers, uncles and brothers let us together bring out the glory of Ibeju-Lekki in the interest of our ancestors and benefit of their descendants.

I pray our deliberations today will be fruitful and open doors of a new beginning for the benefit of our great kingdom.

Furthermore, this Local Government is, however soliciting for the utmost support of each and everyone present today. We need you to make our dreams come true. We are, therefore, appealing to your conscience to assist us in the provision of lands, spaces and enabling environment to make Ibeju-Lekki grow with our strategic plan in repositioning our dear Council area Economically, Infrastructurally and Socially.

I welcome you all once again and wish us fruitful deliberations.

Alale Ibeju A Gbe wa o.

Idagbasoke Ibeju-Lekki, Dandan Ni.

Signed:
Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa,
Executive Chairman,
Ibeju-Lekki Local Government.
