It was an epoch making occasion today Thursday 18th November, 2021 when the Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government led Administration gave account of its achievements in the last 100 Days in office.

The Executive Chairman in his opening address appreciated the entire Ibeju-Lekki Stakeholders for their unflinching supports since the beginning of his Administration. Hon. Olowa as a sign of commitment and inclusive governance promised the electorates seized the opportunity to brief stakeholders of what his administration has been able to do in 100 days in tandem with his tenure’s cardinal agenda which includes Infrastructural Development, Boosting Local Economy, Social Development and Security and Environmental Sustainability.

Hon. Olowa informed the honourable gathering of his Administrator’s delivery on Infrastructure which are massive stabilisation, grading and palliative measures on roads within the local council area. These includes 1.2 km Ayeteju/Igando Road, 1.4 Akodo ring road, Governor’s Road in Ibeju Township, Kajola Road, Awoyaya among others.

The Council Mayor’s passion for economic drive was also reiterated at the occasion where he informed stakeholders of the herculean task of boosting the Council’s internally generated revenue through the 2 months rigorous general enumeration of businesses and residential of the area to capture data required for the aggressive fight against the porosity of revenue in the process also given temporary job opportunities for over 100 youths within the Council Area and a Data Centre to make collation easier.

“My administrations’ flare for education and other social deliverables was also emphasised at the occasion. Construction and renovation exercise is ongoing in Orimedu and Labora Primary Schools amongst others. Various laudable educative programmes like Distribution of free GCE forms, Anti Cultism and Drug Abuse Campaign, Spelling Bee Competition for students and remunerations for Teachers were also embarked upon”: the Chairman said.

The health sector has also caught the interest of the Mayor of which he has embarked on the resuscitation of the 8 functional Primary Health Centres through the provision of constant electricity supply with the supply of 500ltrs of diesel monthly to all PHCs, conducive environment and recruitment of professional Doctors, midwives and other health related personnel to ensure adequate health service delivery to the people of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and its environs. A newly purchased Ambulance was also commissioned.

Security being one of the major challenges in the council area has motivated this administration to totally reform the existing local security outfit of the Council formally named ‘Folumo’; the security outfit should now be known as the ‘Ibeju-Lekki Community Corps’ to commemorate Olowa’s 100 Days in office.
A retired Police Officer, Mr. Raheem Kareem was also appointed to oversee the affairs of the newly branded Corps.

Environmental sustainability is also one of the interest of the Olowa led Administration has brought tremendous changes to the aesthetics of Local Government Secretariat and the entire council area. Also in commemoration of the 100 Days, the administration formally inaugurated the Ibeju-Lekki Cleaner Initiative programme with the recruitment of 200 Sweepers, 30 Gardeners and 15 Environmental Task Force Officers to curtail perpetrators of environmental nuisances within the area.
A newly purchased branded utility bus was also commissioned for easy mobility.

The occasion which was flooded by prominent personalities from all works of life including Royal Fathers, Political Stalwarts, Community Development Associations, Market men and women, Religious Leaders, Youth Bodies, Artisans, Farmers, NURTW members and other stakeholders commended the Hon. Olowa led Administration for the positive transformation of the Council Area in 100 Days.

The Council Mayor also attributed his laudable achievements to Almighty God, the dexterity and commitment of his Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, the Local Government 6th Legislative Arm, Members of Management, Staff and the entire people of the Local Government who had driven his passion to achieve this far.
